Pats sign Gillislee to offer sheet

Recommended Posts

MG was a 5th round running back cut by the team that drafted him.

Exactly.....and it took 3 years for him to adapt and succeed.......can they afford to pencil Jon Williams in as their RB2 in an offense where the running game is required to score the TD's because of a lack of WR talent?

They are not going to match it, if they did they would look like fools. They gave him that tender so another team might give them a 5 th rd pick.

I don't agree with it because I think Gillese is a very good RB, I just get the feeling that every dumb move that is made is done by Whaley.

This thread has gone crazy!! We are up over 30 pages in a few short hours. How many pages would this thread be if he signed an offer sheet with San Francisco? Half as many pages maybe?

....hell Kirby, the over/under is 44....place your bets................

I have never heard of a fan base that cries more over less than average talent then this. STOP WHINNING! BE FLATTERED!

When the best team in the NFL steals our good players because OBD can't manage the cap properly? I'm not flattered. we should be embarrassed.

or it took him 3 years to land on the team that was dedicated to running the ball and having the #1 rush O.

Lack of WR talent? That's the reason behind our floundering passing game all this time?!?

Who says Whaley would be fired? He should have been gone already.

But he's not gone. He's here. If we continue to lose season after season from this point, he WILL be fired. If we make the playoffs, he won't be fired. Considering he's so bad, there really shouldn't be anyway we make the playoffs until after he is fired.......so why not be in favor of tanking? A non playoff team with a bad GM that has already lost several good players should have zero chance of making the playoffs right? I don't understand how you would have any hopes of making the playoffs this year. It just doesn't make sense

TT is the least of this team's problems.

that scored 9-10 TDs and led the league in YPA in his limited carries. But this roster is so rich with good depth, who needs him.

Let's clear some things up here. He had 8 TDs.

2016 Backup RB (a street FA cut from Arizona's PS): 5.7 YPC, 7 20+ Yard Runs, 8 TDs

2015 Backup RB (a 5th round rookie): 5.6 YPC, 5 20+ Yard Runs, 7 TDs

EDIT: If we want to add Receiving TDs our 2016 backup had 1 and our 2015 backup had 2, so 9 total TDs each.

nothing to do with the cap. They can and have keep who they want to keep at the value they place on the player for their offense, nor the value for NE's offense. Paying Gillislee 4 mill for 6 carries/game is absurd. They have an elite RB they want to use and several backups. NE uses a RBBC, they don't have an elite starting RB, they use them all interchangeably. Bills could pay him 4 mil if they wanted to. They would be only the 3rd team in the league to pay a backup RB over 2 mill/yr. Why should they do that? It's a new coaching staff and offense, they place the value that fits. They got a draft pick off of NE for a replaceable player they signed off the street. Before you insist he's not replaceable, wait and see if was replaceable. Most backup RBs with good OLs are. This team cannot afford to lose good depth, esp to a hated division rival.

All I know is Bills haven't had a talent finder this good since the late 80s early 90s. Look at other teams with big holes on their roster. You look at this roster, there aren't a lot of holes. AND there are some great talents. Now it is up to the coaching staff to make the best of this. We signed many RBs this off season. There might be a scheme fit reason for these moves.
