C.Biscuit97 Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 Yeah, significant upgrade. Bills got played pretty good by the agent and the Pats in this deal. How disappointed is MG going to be if the Bills match? This Bills/Pats connection with free agents is starting to have a Eugene Parker-like-inevitability feel........the Pat's have found a weakness........Bills players want to win and don't think they can do so in Buffalo......it's become a pipeline. Not sure fate will shine on the Bills the way it did when Eugene died. Morbid yes, but man were they lucky to be rid of him. For the people who don't understand why it's just the Pats that pursue the Bills FA's........it's an advantage acquiring players within the division.......hurts and opponent PLUS it shortens/simplifies the transition to a new team.......and that acclimation period is traditionally is a major problem with signing free agents. But everything looks much better when you have Tom Freakin' Brady. Gilmore was a stud and stupid Nills fans couldn't recognize it. Chris Hogan was never going to that kinda of player here. And I would bet that MG has a lower Ypc. But if these guys go to the Jets or Fins (where MG got cut), do people even care? Every move looks better when you have the greatest qb ever.
Royale with Cheese Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 Exactly right. Cooper was a throw in, anyone discussing that trade should understand it before going off the deep end. They traded their best pass rusher. They are willing to move talent because they've got the best QB of all time.
dubs Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 Just like having no depth behind Watkins last season. And the same right now. But keep defending Whaley. Last I saw, NE had a very good defense too. Brady isn't on defense. NE knows what they are doing. He's shown nothing to suggest that. He fumbles well. Hahah. He had 27 carries last year. No more than 4 in one game! Let's pump the breaks on saying he sucks. He was generally considered a great value pick with huge upside coming out of college. There's another draft this year with good RB prospects and depth. Not overpaying for a backup RB and getting and extra draft pick out of it is probably a smart move.
JM2009 Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 I'm not defending Whaley. When you don't like the question, you just don't answer. You do it a lot. You are defending Whaley. And your usual shot at TT which is ridiculous. He's the least of this team's problems right now.
Buffalo Barbarian Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 From a Pats writer that's shown a solid bunch of sources. @DMooreNFL I'm being told #Bills are unlikely to match #Patriots offer sheet to RFA Mike Gillislee. Couple of reasons, from what I'm hearing. (1/3) #Bills were not necessarily comfortable giving Gillislee more than one year deal. Also, were comfortable w/ J. Williams progress. (2/3) Lastly, the #Bills would have little cap room to work with if they matched offer sheet. Would prefer 5th rd pick at that point. (3/3) picks !! Any other guys we can get picks for ?
C.Biscuit97 Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 They traded their best pass rusher. They are willing to move talent because they've got the best QB of all time. It blows my mind that people can't understand this. And Whaley drafted a RB last year and signed 2 this offseason. Clearly, he had no plan.
Royale with Cheese Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 what if he traded Hughes for a stud ? Who says Hughes will be good in this Defense ? Bellycheck traded DE Chandler Jones and tons of other players away, that worked out pretty good for them Because they have a luxury we don't have....an all time great QB.
JM2009 Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 Now this scares me, because I actually had this thought: if Whaley is the #32 GM in the league, why aren't the Pats swiping players from 31 other teams. because it hurts a division rival.
CommonCents Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 They traded their best pass rusher. They are willing to move talent because they've got the best QB of all time. This is the same stuff that went on with Lawyer Milloy, Seymour ETC. They Pats only dole out major contracts to a very select few players. They aggressively move players who are about to get paid. It's worked for them but everything is easier when your QB is TB. Tossing out two starting linebackers then winning the SB with Shane Mcllelan and Elandon Roberts ...it's a kick in the nuts.

(3/3) Well I guess all the long term extension stuff was a lie then. Typical scorned reaction by Bills. They wanted to extend him, he worked them and signed with the enemy........so they didn't want him ANYWAYZ!
row_33 Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 (edited) because it hurts a division rival. and the Bills have been very helpful in raising up RBs for playoff teams over the last 10-15 years. Edited April 18, 2017 by row_33

The Stockholm Syndrome levels around here are really starting to spike. The Bills should be accumulating and retaining talent according to a coherent strategy. Not plugging holes year to year with no discernible plan. Watch - they'll let MG go and they'll pick a cornerback in Rd1 this year and a running back in Rd1 in 2018. I could set my watch to it.
dave mcbride Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 It blows my mind that people can't understand this. And Whaley drafted a RB last year and signed 2 this offseason. Clearly, he had no plan. Williams stinks. Tolbert is too old and slow. And Gillislee is quite good. This turn of events is a big net negative, in my opinion.
JM2009 Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 and the Bills have been very helpful in raising up RBs for playoff teams over the last 10-15 years. very true.

I'm sure hogan's still wiping his tears because the Bills didn't want him.
Buffalo Barbarian Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 Because they have a luxury we don't have....an all time great QB. Who cares, he a running back we can get a UDFA to fill that role. 5th > UDFA
Blokestradamus Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 picks !! Any other guys we can get picks for ? I would be shopping Seantrel (highly unlikely but had interest prior to the deadline) and I'd shop Patrick Lewis as well. I'd take a 7th for either. I'd anticipate a few calls about Preston Brown as well, considering the circumstances.
Royale with Cheese Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 You are defending Whaley. And your usual shot at TT which is ridiculous. He's the least of this team's problems right now. Saying TT isn't Brady is a shot? You're so incredibly sensitive about TT it's ridiculous. I wasn't defending Whaley...just giving an example. You're stubbornness is just unreal sometimes...it really is.

Yeah, the Pats were awesome before Brady.
