BillsFan4 Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 (edited) I would take Josh Dobbs in the 4th. My point still stands. If you believe a QB has franchise potential and you can draft them in the 1st you draft them. You don't wait and hope. I know this sounds crazy but this is standard thinking in the NFL. The Bills are unique in that they think they can win with other teams backups at QB. It's a bizarre faith that had kept them out of the playoffs for almost 20 years. The Seahawks believed that Russel Wilson had franchise potential and waited until the 3rd to draft him. There were even those stories about how they were sweating bullets that the Bills would take him ahead of their pick in the 3rd. Oakland thought Carr had franchise potential and waited until the 2nd to draft him. There are plenty of stories like this throughout the years. Teams want players to meet the draft pick value. Teams talk about this often. They weigh the potential of that player not succeeding with the value of the pick and pull the trigger when they think it's right. Edited April 23, 2017 by BillsFan4
jeffismagic Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 (edited) Ha HA, 1-7 all because of the QB? They didn't do that bad last year and they had a train Wrecks for a game day coach. I would think I need to fill more holes on the team before I draft a QB at that point. By the time the rest of the team catches up it will be time to draft another QB. If you're 1-7 you have bigger problem than a QB. I think Vegas will have Bills as underdog in at least 6 out of their first 8 games. Not my special take. Just telling you what the view outside Bills world is. Edited April 23, 2017 by jeffismagic

jeffismagic Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 (edited) Again, they did better than that with Wrecks and Taylor. Every year is different. McDermott's defense finished worse than Rex's last year in points per game and yards. Let me ask you, how many games do you believe the Bills will be a favorite to win in their first 8 games and which teams are they? Edited April 23, 2017 by jeffismagic

It's April 23, haven't even gotten past the draft yet. Same players different coach. Let's see what happens in September.

Let me ask you, how many games do you believe the Bills will be a favorite to win in their first 8 games and which teams are they? As of right now, they would probably be favored in two of the eight, with two games in the "pick-em" category. So what? It's completely meaningless at this point, before the draft, before training camp, and before preseason. And after the first game, the deck will be shuffled all over again.

They seem to do better as underdogs anyways.
Riverboat Richie Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 Ok, fair enough. Good talk Jeff. We both want the same thing, just have different views on how to get there.
jeffismagic Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 Good talk Jeff. We both want the same thing, just have different views on how to get there. For sure. That's what this board is for. It would be boring if we all thought the same thing.
DaBillsFanSince1973 Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 I think if we draft Mahomes or Trubisky they would win the #2 spot on the roster. I would expect Mahomes or Trubisky to be inserted into the Bills lineup around week 9 or week 10 as the Bills could have a 1-7 record by then. right. For sure. That's what this board is for. It would be boring if we all thought the same thing. you got that right. your posts are always entertaining, not really in a good way but entertaining none the less.
jeffismagic Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 right. you got that right. your posts are always entertaining, not really in a good way but entertaining none the less. Thanks! I do what I can.
DaBillsFanSince1973 Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 (edited) Thanks! I do what I can. do you even look forward to the season? I ask because you having them winning only one game by the halfway point of the season, why watch? I mean maybe you like to see them lose, or you look forward to it? I hate seeing them lose and if I knew the season was a wash before the halfway point, I wouldn't even !@#$ing watch... Edited April 23, 2017 by DaBillsFanSince1973

Yes, I hate seeing them lose. That's why I hope they start flying right. But I've been waiting for a long time. If we're going to have a bad year I will feel much better if we have a young QB with potential who can play. Otherwise, this can be a very dark year. Nothing is worse than a bad team that doesn't know they are a bad team and my worst case scenario is that our management team is way in over their head.

No excuse for that. Even Cleveland made it once.55 years is a long time. You're probably numb to the losing.
