I like some of DW's moves but until he hits on a QB he's on borrowed time

Hit the nail on the head.

When Whaley was hired he said this team was in a QB purgatory and now staffs later it's still in the same purgatory. I agree Whaley is on borrowed time if he can't hit on a franchise worthy QB he will be gone with this staff in my opinion. The draft is the lottery, you have to be in it to win it. Late rounders tend to only work for teams with a franchise worthy QB all ready in place. Brady had to play tremendous to take that job from Bledsoe just like Dak did making Romo retire.

If McDermott doesn't get a QB by next year I think he might be fired after next year.

What can you say? The Pegulas are slow learners.

Slow learners? If this is the plan it has already failed, nobody in their right mind gives a first year HC that much power.

The defense was the main problem with this team. Taylor was the best option available for this season. Draft a QB to sit behind him.

Well, maybe Sean The Wrestler is also a brilliant GM.

If he waits till next year to pull the trigger to get one that QB better be perfect year 1 in 2018 or he should start packing now. I agree I'm thinking they will wait to draft a top QB till 2018 so 2019 will be a year of reckoning with a new GM on down. I think they made there bed once Tyrod was resigned but I do hold out hope this draft could land a top QB if drafted early, if not I agree this staff and GM will be dead man walking in 2018.

Got my fingers crossed we get one of the top 4 QBs this year. I agree the D was a problem but Tyrod regressed and showed his years behind Flacco didnt make him any better then what he was in college.

Pointing the finger solely at the D and coaching will put huge pressure on this first year staff. So if it doesn't make a playoff run or at least top Rex years with Tyrod this year is it once again a coaching and D problem? What cordinator takes the fall year 1? How long before they realize it's a QB driven league.

I see McDermott as the old school coaching type who will not assess risk properly. Just like Marrone and Orton or Gailey and Fitz, McDermott is hitching his wagon to Tyrod. If the Bills don't get a QB in round 1 this year, you are right, McDermott has no margin for error next year.

Most likely scenario if we don't get a QB this year is next year will have 2 or 3 great prospects but they will be gone by the time we pick at 8, 9, or 10. Then we end up having to draft a QB not as good as the one we could have taken at 10 this year!

Head coaches don't think about the future they want to win now it's why Chan didn't want to wait for a rookie QB to learn. Its the GMs job to set up for the future, to think past this staff if the team fails with this staff. I'm very worried you are right and McD has more push and Whaley isn't a real GM anymore but then again Whaley hasn't been able to fix the QB purgatory he inherited so eitherway 2019 looks to be the time a GM comes in with power, sadly for McD he will want his own staff and QB. I truly hope Whaley gets a QB in round one otherwise my hope for this team is out the window for the next 2 seasons. Building around Baltimore's backup QB just got the last staff fired. They have a QB like it or not. I' m still not sure what he can really do base on the previous coaching staff. what kind of a ground and pound team can't convert a third down when they lead the league in rushing? Really pounded it ther in the red zone too, huh. What exactly was there identity then? Taylor played his whole time here so far like he was afraid to make a mistake and face the coaches. You ever see any of your franchise guys look like they were afraid of anything? Turn the guy loose and see what he can do. He, much like Whaley is walking on a thin line. Give them both all they need to succeed. If they fall off the wire then so be it. They don't need to buy into the QB at number ten hype.

Number 10 hype?

In my opinion they have to take a QB early, a top talent not a late project to sit behind the other late project. Top drafted QB this season can sit year one behind Tyrod make it or break it year so 2018 will have some kind of hope to it.

Tyrod got the last staff fired and a cordinator fired year one as the starter here. If they bank it all on Tyrod like the last staff they are dead man walking in 2018 if he is no better then he was with the last staff. In 2018 with nothing but late round projects that might not even become backups in this league this staff/GM will be in big trouble. Draft a QB in 2018 will make that rookie have to play great right out of the gate.

It's not hype for a QB @10 it's a must have in my opinion for this staff to have any insurance for the future.

Correct. The Rex Ryan staff decided to build around Tyrod and "open up the offense" in year 2. It got Roman fired. Lynn dialed back the offense and simplified to help out the QB. Soon Rex Ryan and his staff fell victim to high expectations on a team with no franchise QB. Tyrod came up small time after time against AFC opponents we needed to beat. He is JAG whose play should have been replaced by a cheaper option and not had a contract where Bills have 8,500,000 in dead cap if they cut Tyrod next year.

Tyron got the last staff fired? Are you serious with this or do you just like message board debates and don't really care about the topic? They reached for Losman and for EJ. You want to do it again. No one can decide on one of the rookies being the guy to go first or second for that matter but message board posters have it all figured out. Yes, talking about a QB at number 10 is just draft hype.

Right on man.

But it is what it is, this draft will determine what the future holds on this staff. Got my fingers crossed a QB is drafted early.

Late round projects are for teams that have a franchise QB all ready in place. If they want a franchise worthy QB they have to draft one of the top dogs. If they don't try they will never have one Edited by xRUSHx

I really think this draft is critical. They pass on a franchise QB this year and they might not get another chance during the McDermott regime.

Please answer the question mentioned above. Do you actually believe tyrod got the last staff fired?

I may be ok with your late round project suggestion. But when you throw nonsense like tyrod got rex fired. Well that makes your post useless.

There is no one going to start right out of the gate and take the job from Taylor. I'm sorry but I don't see it. That means the guy sits. I always believed that if you draft a QB in the top ten, he had better be able to start from day one. Not this year.

If your blind and point it all on the D and coaching then of course you can't see our QB wasn't good enough. So my post of course wouldn't make sense to you.

So if a guy can become a franchise QB but has to wait a year to start you would not take him?

Sounds like you could work for the Bills!
