Maury Ballstein Posted March 14, 2017 Author Posted March 14, 2017 he got sonned by Solomon Thomas on the 2 point conversion Fixed. Stanford was 10-3 fwiw. How did he grow an inch? The web rumors of shortness were web rumors.
r00tabaga Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 I'm not against taking him. Just not a high first rd pick. He has about as much game exp as Cardale Jones and that would leave us thin if Taylor ever goes down. I think Bears in rd 2.

jeffismagic Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 If by high ceiling, you mean he hasn't accomplished much yet then of course his roof is higher than others. Other QBs have won bigger games, started more and have better numbers. He got exposed in his last game. Where was his insane accuracy? You can put that L squarely on his shoulders. Good college QB's don't necessarily make great NFL QB's. Different skill sets. Tim Tebow was an incredible college QB but could not play at the NFL level.
jrober38 Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 I see a lot of Ryan Tannehill in Mitch Trubisky. Both guys essentially had the same pros and cons as prospects coming out of college. Personally, I'd want something better than that. Tannehill has only been slightly above average even though the Dolphins have done everything possible to surround him with an elite supporting cast over the last couple years.
4merper4mer Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 How did he grow an inch? His agent measured him this time. The phone books may have helped too.

jeffismagic Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 Solomon Thomas will be pantsing NFL qb's very soon. He's a beast. Absolutely. If the Bills decided to boost roster I would rather have Solomon over a second tight end.

His upside is closer to Matt Ryan. I would expect Trubisky to be gone top 5.
jrober38 Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 His upside is closer to Matt Ryan. I would expect Trubisky to be gone top 5. Sure. And his downside is Blaine Gabbert. Odds are he'll wind up somewhere in the middle, ie Ryan Tannehill/Andy Dalton.
jeffismagic Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 Sure. And his downside is Blaine Gabbert. Odds are he'll wind up somewhere in the middle, ie Ryan Tannehill/Andy Dalton. There definitely is a lower floor than Matt Ryan but I don't get where you then assume he doesn't hit potential. If he goes to Kyle Shanahan he will look a lot closer to his ceiling than floor.
4merper4mer Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 Blaine Gabbert 2.0 To be fair to Trubiniski, he's not named Blaine. Anyone named Blaine was a certain failure.

Most significantly under perform relative to their expectations. That's where I'm getting that from.
harmonkillebrew Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 Tannehill stats: 327 531 61.6 3744 7.1 6.9 29 15 133.2 Trubisky stats: 304 447 68.0 3748 8.4 9.1 30 6 157.9 I think he's a good deal better than Tannehill. Better accuracy, more than half of the INTs
