YoloinOhio Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 (edited) I guessed it (for Bills). Did you? The 2017 NFL draft is only two weeks away. Like every year, some teams will select players to fill a major need. Others will make questionable decisions that could possibly set their franchise back a few years. Drafting the right player can be tricky at times, but every team in the NFL has managed to get it right at least once. Yes, even the Cleveland Browns. That doesnt necessarily mean this player is the best on his team, just that his team made the savvy choice drafting him when and where it did. http://www.sbnation.com/2017/4/14/15291038/nfl-draft-best-player-chosen-last-5-years Edited April 16, 2017 by YoloinOhio
Kirby Jackson Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 I'm not looking at it yet but am going to say Cordy Glenn.
CNY315 Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 I'm not looking at it yet but am going to say Cordy Glenn. I said the same
K D Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 Smartest? This might be the dumbest Kiko should have been smartest. Had we known Chip would give up anyone for Oregon players we should have drafted more
Buddo Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 It would seem that they believe it's Sammy Watkins, which is more than a little contrary to what many would believe. I'm in the 'Cordy Glenn' camp myself. Great value in the 2nd round, and a nice 'smokescreen' put up before the draft to get him. Buddy did good on that one.
cage Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 (edited) Haven't looked yet, but would say it has to be Darby. No 1st pick that year and to get a DROY candidate w/ opening 2nd round pick, means they did their HW. And everyone said "Who??" when they picked him Edited April 16, 2017 by cage
Rico Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 No doubt it's Glenn. He is the only one drafted over the past 5 years who you can unconditionally say has produced on the field and for who the arrow is clearly pointing up... unless you also count Gilmore.
xxxxxxxx Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 I think the strongest case can be made for Bradham based on where he was selected (4th 105th). Glenn and Darby make some sense, but second round players project into starters far more often than 4th round players. Hitting on a reliable starter in rounds 1-2 isn't that difficulty given the consensus scouting information that is available, its harder in round 3, depending on the draft, but once you get to round 4 its much harder, by far, which is why draft grades are all over the board in later rounds. Simply put, Watkins, Darby, and Glenn are all picks that a lot of amateurs could have made (I'm an amateur and I would have picked Watkins at 3). Bradham at 4 is what separates professionals from amateur draft - nicks - and loud mouthed "draft experts". Arguably, Buffalo has yet to have found a starter that has been as reliable as he is in the 4th round since.
Brianmoorman4jesus Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 I guessed Glenn. After that it was probably Kiko and Miller. The answer in the article isn't even in the top 10 IMO.
Kirby Jackson Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 A year from now we may be saying Kevon Seymour. If he is a decent starter from the end of the draft that would be an option.
rayray808 Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 Boo to that article... the answer is EJ Manuel because reminded our franchise that we continuously guess wrong at QB but until you guess right you will NEVER make the playoffs... with the 10th pick this year hopefully we fix that
Scott7975 Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 Boo to that article... the answer is EJ Manuel because reminded our franchise that we continuously guess wrong at QB but until you guess right you will NEVER make the playoffs... with the 10th pick this year hopefully we fix that They aren't going to take a QB with the 10th pick.
Heavy Kevi Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 Instantly I said Cordy. Then I saw the first few posts and I was sure.... ...then I clicked on the link. What? Proof yet again that the "experts" don't know jack about Buffalo.
jr1 Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 Cordy will be sulking at Easter dinner. "What do I have to do to get noticed"
Charles Romes Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 Funny "Cordy Glenn" popped into my head just like many other posters. Question would have easily been "name one thing the organization did right the last decade".
Elite Poster Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 (edited) My first thought was Cordy and second was Sammy. Everyone always says we gave up "soooo" much, but then you actually take 10 seconds and an ounce of effort to realize the next years first round draft class was steaming garbage from where we would have drafted. In addition, our second round pick turned out better than 95% of the first round picks from that year. That was a phenomenal move and showed great foresight; I know how unpopular it is to say that around here, however. Edited April 16, 2017 by Elite Poster
boyst Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 Never would have expected Watkins. Wonder what this reflection is indicative of whaleys rep
Rocky Landing Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 Never would have expected Watkins. Wonder what this reflection is indicative of whaleys rep I strongly suspect that Whaley is generally better respected outside of the Bills' fan base.
