Buffalo Barbarian Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 http://www.sportingnews.com/amp/nfl/news/former-ravens-tight-end-todd-heap-accidentally-kills-3-year-old-daughter/olsq2cap0hk210aa1h6l0l25x While moving his truck, he ran his daughter over. She was pronounced dead at the hospital. Terrible story. It was not too long ago that he donated 1 million dollars to a hospital pediatric unit. When he did that, he was asked what makes him happy. He said he just got done jumping on a trampoline with his two year old daughter. Nothing could be better than that. I can't imagine how he feels right now. I knew a guy that twin daughters he had on his lap driving a tractor and one fell off and ran her over, very tragic.
jr1 Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 the type of thing you think could never happen to you until it does
Playoffs? Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 I feel horrible for him and his family. What a nightmare. Selfishly, I'd have a hard time wanting to continue living and dealing with that pain every day.
OldTimeAFLGuy Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 ...happened in my grade school days to the family of a classmate....Dad was backing out and the same thing happened.....family was never the same......it happened 50+ years ago, but I still remember it because of their pain......
Big Gun Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 Terrible. This happens quite often, unfortunately. Which is why backup cameras are now standard in any new cars. The ESPN article says he was going forward. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/19161911/todd-heap-accidentally-hits-kills-3-year-old-daughter-moving-truck It's terrible news however it happened.
Patrick Duffy Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 Wow! Really sad. I don't know if I could go on living after something like that. I wouldn't even want to be here any more. Prayers for him and family.
DC Tom Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 I live in fear of this sort of thing, to the point that I walk around the car and check the near surroundings for kids and make sure I know exactly where everything and every one is before I get in the car and start it. And I don't even have kids. I'm almost paranoid about it. To the point that, if I see a kid before I get in the car, but then can't see the kid after, I will get back out of the car and check behind to make sure they didn't get behind me when I wasn't looking. It's just such an awful thing, and so damned easy to happen.
without a drought Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 Just a terrible story and there is no easy out, not with four other children and a wife. The pain and guilt will be there forever. I wish them all the best, none of their lives will ever be the same.
145B4IDIE Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 My thoughts and prayers to Todd and the entire Heap family.
Doc Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 It's not a matter of if you can go on: it's how do you cope with this tragedy to go on. He has four other children and I'm sure they're all still fairly young. He can't just check out, much less kill himself. If he's a man of faith, that's where he'll have to turn. This will take a major toll on his marriage. While his wife will try to be understanding, but she will still have that nagging feeling that it was his fault. Hopefully they can stay together for themselves and the remaining kids.
Juice_32 Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 I just saw this story online and couldn't finish reading it. God bless him and his family. As the father of a 4 year old little girl I honestly could not comprehend living after that.
Another Fan Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 Prayers are with him that he can move past this tragedy.
