May Day 10 Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 We have more PR guys than football guys. Winning the off-season is about hype. Winning the season is black and white. There are no nuances to W-Ls. yeah. These little PR actions mean nothing. Many were falling over themselves praising Rex Ryan for doing these sort of things and pushing everyone's buttons. I am cautiously optimistic for McDermott. Seems like a young, hungry, no-nonsense head coach ready and willing to put the work in. It reminds me how I felt about Gregg Williams though I am so sick of the kissing up to these "Legends". Can we look into the future and leave the past behind? Do other NFL teams act like this with their retired players? Its hard to have a better tomorrow, if you don't stop dwelling on yesterday. Imo They are the Chrones of the Dosh Khaleen
elroy16 Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 I love it. I'm a huge UNC fan and Roy Williams goes out of his way to make past alum, great or just average, feel like family. Players talk all the time how fun it is playing against former greats like Tyler Hansbrough and Raymond Felton during summer pick up games. Sure, going to UNC gives players a great opportunity to win a championship, but even if they don't, they're part of a greater tradition than just that year's basketball team. It's not the same in the NFL, regardless, I like it a lot.
Augie Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 Rex ate wings at Big Tree with Jim and Thurman for that SI article - that doesn't count? Just kidding - he probably stuck them with the bill He also probably ate all the wings!
ko12010 Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 This is nice and all, but WINS. Just sayin... No offense, but stop with sh*t like this. We all get it--doing the right things at this time doesn't equal wins. But maybe try viewing these actions more in a vacuum than you currently are and appreciating them at this present moment.
Golden*Wheels Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 (edited) Its about LEARNING the culture,as to better CHANGE the culture. Its also paying homage. And learning to RELATE to a storied(allbeit not ideal) history. Should we ignore the past,or understand it to improve it? I'm fine with him taking the guys out to dinner. It's nice, period, and great PR. But I think the coaches and players SHOULD ignore our past. I don't think the team "culture" now has much to do with these all time greats he took out to dinner, nor do I think there is much, if anything, to learn from their "culture". Don't forget your helmet? We're the 4 time superbowl losers to the fans so far as "culture" and always will be until we aren't....but the players who have been losing the last decade, or recently under Rex, were babies in 1993. They don't know that culture. To them we're just another average to bad team, like a lot of others in the NFL who didn't lose 4 superbowls in a row. So I say, yes, ignore it. Bury it. Burn it. They'd be better off. JMO. Edited April 5, 2017 by Golden*Wheels

Golden*Wheels Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 (edited) You should lead by example and pick a name other than Golden*Wheels. Well I wanted "GoldenWheels" but it was taken. LOL. And frankly I feel like a scab barely modifying an established name here. But old habits die hard. Edited April 5, 2017 by Golden*Wheels

Rockpile233 Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 I feel like this is a response to the Christie fiasco earlier, but I am a cynical person.
CodeMonkey Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 Good stuff, but when does OJ get his Derm dinner date? As soon as the Juice's prior commitment is over.

Juice_32 Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 Good stuff, but when does OJ get his Derm dinner date? My dad valet parked one of OJs cars back in the day. I can't remember the name of the restaurant but OJ had his own chair. Anyway, dad was drunk and he ran the car against a concrete pole and destroyed the passenger side of the car. Fortunately for my old man OJ was drunk too. He pulled the car up, OJ got in and never a word was said. True story.
Buffalo_Stampede Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 (edited) 7 Super Mighty's, 1 veggie burrito. McDerm strikes me as a veggie burrito type of guy. Edited April 5, 2017 by TheTruthHurts

BuffaloHokie13 Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 7 Super Mighty's, 1 veggie burrito. McDerm strikes me as a veggie burrito type of guy. They aren't all that different at Mighty anyway. Isn't the 'meat' like 50% tofu/substitute?

Imo Yesterday was the best era in Bills football, they did it right. Since then this franchise has sucked. What future are you alluding too since we keep screwing up over and over the same damn way since they left. I mean please tell us about the Future HOF players on this team leading them to superbowls that we can talk to or about. Oh wait there are none? The please STFU.

Imo I can only speak of the Fins since I live here now but they always have special events for alumni. I don't see a whole lot wrong with knowing more about the places history that's employing you.
