What is this another episode of Survivor? It is pretty easy to tell a true leader of a pack. Williams is definitely an alpha dog who leads by example. If you need a council to define that, you might want to get everyone a participation trophy.

First thing he's doing that I admire. The team needs guys with C's on their chest.

Under Rex:

1. Discipline issues among players (not on time, sleeping, etc.)
2. Lack of work ethic from the head coach
3. Poor execution of the basics -- knowing alignments, getting plays in on time, etc
4. Despite this lack of foundation -- a cocky arrogance

Under McD:

1. Player friendly but also player driven
2. Attention to detail
3. Great work ethic from the coaching staff
4. Humility
5. Focus on the fundamentals - coaches prepared, player discipline, blocking and tackling, maximum effort

Give me McD--I like what we are seeing......but all that matters are the W's....

Rex was loved but not respected...Players don't work hard when they don't respect the leader.

Someone else pointed out that McDermott's never been a head coach-- so all we have are others opinions of him...

Plus he's hired a very experienced and respected staff. He seemed to value experience more than any other trait.

 

We can't tell how he will coach in a game..but I don't remember the Panthers D being overly penalized -- last year only 24 defensive penalties the entire year and I can't ever remember one for 10 men on the field..

I like where this guy's head is. Definitely a man with a plan, focus, and direction. He's making a very good first impression so far. Now if this translated into wins on the field, we're playoff bound in 17 or 18.

I would say that missing a VOLUNTARY meeting to attend your child's birthday shows good leadership. It tells me his priorities are in order. And besides, Shady isn't the problem here.
