This team is very bad. Not sure how anyone is confident in them bouncing back. They’re compiled of broken down sluggers that are batting .240-.270. We are literally paying cespedes 29 million this year to strike out and get the occasional single.

I’m at the point that I’m over this and wouldn’t mind seeing this team just be torn down.

Maybe that top of the 9th gets them out of this funk

Huge. Conforto may be breaking out.

And despite only 5 innings pitched,  Matz pitched well. SNY just showed 5th inning replays. Mets blew a DP ball, old man A-Gon couldn't get to a pop foul and Matz was behind 3-0 on Santana with the bases loaded. 0 runs scored. That set the stage for later.

Hope so. Syndergaard tomorrow then deGrom Sunday... and they are skipping over a Vargas start! Let's  Go Mets!

Wow, you can see the lost weight just from his face. That's encouraging.

A-Gon hasn't exactly cemented himself at first. He's just up for the weekend but hopefully he's putting himself in position for a mid-season call-up.

Not sure what I think about this...he was groomed to be a power hitter and had just a few dingers out west in that dry air. I wonder if he was told to lose weight because of his leg issues? On a positive note..his double bag numbers were up...I really think he might always be a challenge to figure out...maturity is the key with him imo. I see the Mets inner circle didn't move Alonso up to replace him in LV....I find that to be odd. Anyway..I'm screwed for the weekend, the next to starts are PIX games..so it's only SNY early morning replays for me.

I didn't know that....damn,when will Vargas see another start? I would guess he will see some middle relief in the two game Toronto series?

WRT D. Smith, you're more dialed in to the minors than I am. But my understanding was that he wasn't projected as a power hitter.

My thoughts on him are superficial. When he came up last year I took one look at his face and saw an out of condition young player. To me he looked like a guy that needed a nap.

Today I saw a more conditioned player. I'll remain skeptical but hopeful. Today its arrow up for me.

Agree 100%.  It almost seems like he was mentored by Harvey last year.  He was lazy, arrogant and out of shape.  I am ecstatic that he took the offseason/spring seriously and showed up in such great shape.  He's the first baseman (could be) we haven't had since Hernandez.  I thought Ike Davis would be our guy, but man - talk about a guy falling off the cliff and never getting back.  That is still a mystery to me.  Anyway, I am cautiously optimistic about Dom.

Three games in six days...this could be a very good thing. It will be interesting to see what happens to the rotation.

Anybody have a update on Plawecki?

I haven't heard anything about Plawecki, but if I had to bet my life on it, I'd say he still sucks.

Blue Jays have never won a game in Shea Stadium or Citi Field.  Look it up for yourselves if you don't believe me.

Have a feeling though in a few days that streak will be history

I hope you're wrong but I think you're right.

Might give you the opportunity to post in  row_33's "Always something new to see" baseball thread. Pretty sure he's a Blue Jays fan.

I was thinking the same thing about row..hope he chimes in about what we need to look out for with the Jays. I'll shoot him a PM. Anyway...when our nug called my bride this morning for the "thanks mom" wishes,he got me on the phone...he gets more pee'd off than I do during times like this...he was going to call this evening to chat some Mets ramble...he never called.

after a good start the Jays are in meltdow

last week starter Stroman went to the DL and closer Osuna was arrested on a domestic assault charge

they sleepwalked a no-hitter, still a great effort by Paxton, a few hours after Osuna burst on the news

Pillar is on a roll st the plate, youngsters are doing okay, Morales is a pathetic bust out there

with the Yankees and Red Sox balling its looking grim, some really good prospects to call up and move Donaldson out of here at the trade deadline are the hopes

Kinda boilerplate for locals, but anything else?

Adapted for the Mets:

----

after a good start the Jays Mets are in meltdown

last week starter Stroman Harvey went to the DL Reds and closer Osuna was arrested on a domestic assault charge the Mets managed to bat out of order.

they sleepwalked a no-hitter through the last three weeks, still a great effort by Paxton, and deGrom hyper-extended his elbow batting a few hours after days before Osuna burst on the news the lineup kerfuffle.

Pillar Nobody is on a roll at the plate, youngsters are doing okay, Morales Vargas is a pathetic bust out there

with the Yankees and Red Sox Braves and Phillies (?!?!?) balling its looking grim, some really good not much in the way of prospects to call up and move Donaldson  anyone with a pulse out of here at the trade deadline so the cheap owners can save money are the hopes expectation

Kinda boilerplate for locals, but anything else?

----

May the worst team lose!

It's very painful to see Noah getting a start... what he could have done in Toronto....

So it's safe to say both our teams were hoping to contend for a WC spot and it's looking like the 2nd one is of focus and not very likely?

Harvey was sent to the Reds?  That's my definition of a bandbox stadium for the NL, Toronto is the best bandbox for the AL.
