Washington Post - 16 hours ago

Congress sent proposed legislation to President Trump on Tuesday that wipes away landmark online privacy protections, the first salvo in what is likely to become a significant reworking of the rules governing Internet access in an era of Republican ...

Back to wearing your hoodie in the convenience store and acting like you need the bottle of water and candy bar and picked up the Penthouse because you just "happened to see it and it looked like it had a good article".

Both linked threads cover FCC regulation/deregulation of the internet previously discussed here. Note also in the linked article that they say that ISPs will be getting the same access to customer data that both Google and Facebook already have.

Don't spoil the rants with facts, buddy.

Note the WaPo headline - Landmark Privacy Protections :) If they are landmark, why aren't Goog & FB not subject to them?

Now they have to work on getting control of domains back from the UN. Seems silly that the one country that guarantees free speech gives it over to the UN. A outfit that does not. Censorship already happening. Facebook already working with Pakistan to shut down anyone being "blasphemous" .

Anyone who thinks their gmail/aolmail/macmail/Notesmail/Exchangemail...etc. accounts are private are idiots* Every email you've ever sent or received reside on multiple servers and are subject to data mining by the host. Every website you've ever been to even in private browsing mode is known to your ISP. EVERY site.

That's the whole point of the new ruling. The great Obama privacy protection didn't extend to Goog, FB, etc, who were perfectly free to sell your data.

Langley protects its own. Always have.

The ISPs are far more valuable to CIA. But carry on.

Are these the same "landmark" protections the Obama Administration thought we could live without for 7 1/2 of his 8 years in office?

Is Facebook working with Pakistan in order to further their business footprint in Pakistan, or are they in collusion with Pakistan to limit free speech in western nations?

Or is Facebook complying with Pakistani law?

So, even though these things have already been happening, the general consensus is that we don't like that they could potentially sell that browser data? Right?

What a concept - complying with a sovereign nation's laws in order to do business within their borders. That sounds like it might catch on....

When you use phrases like "wipe away landmark internet privacy protections" or "roll back Obama's (fill in the blank) laws" then I suppose a hue and cry from the knee-jerks is to be expected.
