Bills hire Talent Consultant to improve public image

Recommended Posts

PR and VP of communication are different, as is what Matalon will be working on which is public image. It's a multi billion dollar company, it's ok to invest in more vs less.

No, it doesn't win games, but the owners want to improve in all areas. Seriously, for those with a negative reaction - what is the downside?

See below.

What other teams need one of these?

I probably would not have announced this hire publicly...

Yup his whole twitter account is like that.

Recently Vladimir Putin called a meeting to address the problem with his image. A recent poll indicated that a plurality of people considered him to be a killer. When asked for a suggestion as to how to improve his image an attendee stood up and offered the suggestion that he should just stop killing people. Putin responded by pulling out a gun and shooting the person with the recommendation between the eyes. He then had him dragged out and hung on a lamp post for everyone to see. Vladimir then asked for suggestions for improving his image. The next response from a trembling attendee said that he should hire a public relations firm to improve his image. Putin smiled and gave the aid kisses on both of his flushed cheeks.

Prior to concluding the meeting Putin asked if there were any other suggestions to soften his harsh image. From the back of the room someone asked "what ever happened to Baghdad Bob? I heard he is an excellent spokesperson for a person with a bad image."

Does it count against the salary cap?

Does it cost us any compensatory draft picks?

No? Then why does anyone have a problem with it? They're obviously making an effort to improve the team, otherwise they wouldn't have fired Rex. So let them do whatever PR they think is necessary. It's a business as well as a game - they're playing both angles.

this guy hasnt been banned yet?

No the moderators have been very lenient with those refuges from children's board. Some of them even like to keep pet trolls.

Oh, but it easier to poo poo and jump up and down a scream "win more games" and ""we need a QB" and "17 years!"

Going with mob lemming mentality is always easier.

The Bills lost their way as little bit in terms of getting their message out. They had to know when they hired Rex that he would speak on behalf of the team. That is who Rex is. When you are making empty promises people will start challenging you. He said a bunch of things would happen that didn't and it put the media, and in turn the fans, in attack mode. The Bills then had to defend all decisions. Ina way they kind of have become guilty until proven innocent.

It stems back further than that though. Ralph Wilson, especially in the later years would not give off good vibes. I still fondly recall his boasting about Toronto while subtlety trashing Buffalo... while outsourcing games there and feeding everyone's collective inferiority and fears.... or the PC where he declared that all the Bills needed were "runners" and "Tight Ends who don't get hurt". That transitioned into Russ Brandon delivering the message, and let's face it... about 80% of the fanbase would be thrilled to never hear a word from the guy and do not trust him. Also, Buddy Nix was a characture, especially with his infamous telephone screw up. That transitioned into the trainwreck Rex.... which in turn went into the strange events of Anthony Lynn and the Whaley PC.

They reacted by changing the direction of their PR man... and now this 'talent evaluator'. They were/are completely necessary moves. Even if they are well oiled, they always give the public impression of being keystone capers
