boyst Posted March 27, 2017 Posted March 27, 2017 I am considering acquiring sheep, as they eat a lot of weeds, have many uses and most importantly you can eat them. They're usually for cultured folks who eat fancy and I've never ate sheep/lamb. I know very little about them and what you can harvest so I would consult the geniuses of OTW. Does anyone here eat it? How often? What do you think?

Saxum Posted March 27, 2017 Posted March 27, 2017 Just bought 2 leg of lambs yesterday; we probably eat lamb once a week or once every other week. A friend has a business so we borrowed her card and bought it from Restaurant Depot at a good price. Fortunately being in Northern Virginia we are in area where there are a large number of stores which sell it which increases competition and reduces cost.
boyst Posted March 27, 2017 Author Posted March 27, 2017 Sheep tastes funny. Lamb is yummy OTOH lamb is less than a 12 month old sheep. Past 12 months sheep meat is called mutton.
HereComesTheReignAgain Posted March 27, 2017 Posted March 27, 2017 Lamb loin chops are one of my favorite cuts of meat. Easily prepared and delicious!
Marv's Neighbor Posted March 27, 2017 Posted March 27, 2017 And here I thought this was another "would ya" question.
The Poojer Posted March 27, 2017 Posted March 27, 2017 Honestly, I was helping that sheep get over the fence

Johnny Hammersticks Posted March 27, 2017 Posted March 27, 2017 Not a big fan of lamb, but I do like those little fainting goats. Boyst...can you get a few of those fainting goats for the next time I visit?
dib Posted March 27, 2017 Posted March 27, 2017 As long as the lamb doesnt ask "Are you my da-a-a-a-a-a-a-dy"
John from Riverside Posted March 27, 2017 Posted March 27, 2017 Talk about a title that needs to be changed....

Marv's Neighbor Posted March 27, 2017 Posted March 27, 2017 any port in a storm. this mean you are bring sheep meat to the opener? I hear it goes well with Genny Cream Ale!
CowgirlsFan Posted March 27, 2017 Posted March 27, 2017 IF it is like goat and prepared correctly,it's really good. Great curry goat there at the resort in Jamaica.
section122 Posted March 27, 2017 Posted March 27, 2017 lamb chops are phenomenal. 2 parts lemon pepper 1 part salt. you won't need another recipe
Saxum Posted March 27, 2017 Posted March 27, 2017 My wife has a better recipe and would not change it for lemon pepper; even my daughter who is a picky eater last time finished leftovers before I could go back for 2nd plate.
Augie Posted March 27, 2017 Posted March 27, 2017 My wife's family is of middle eastern descent, and lamb is big in all different forms. Sadly, I've never been able to become a true fan. At times I've had to pick to be polite, and scavenge for some satisfaction.
