WhoTom Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 I'm not a big fan of Simms, but even with him, the CBS A-team was far better than their Fox counterparts. Buck and Aikman are terrible. Even my wife, who's not much of a fan but watches a game with me now and then, shakes her head at some of Aikman's comments. I often remind her that Troy suffered a lot of concussions when he played, and it shows.
KD in CA Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 Good for Romo, I always liked him. I think he'll be good in the booth. And huge win having him replace the horrendous Phil Simms. Simms was always a good guy but he just isn't cut out for that job.
Buffalo Barbarian Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 I would agree, its best for him to retire. Young enough to still walk away, made more than enough money, but will get paid well to be in the booth. Should have went with Houston and get another chance at a SB, you got your whole life to retire and the networks would still be there. Honestly don't get why the networks are so eager to get him. never saw Tony as a riveting speaker.
Foxx Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 Romo and Aikman would be a perfect team for Fox - Dumb and dumber! But of course we get inflicted with Romo on AFC games. i don't think two color guys together would work very well.
mead107 Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 (edited) I hope he does well.make cgf happy. Edited April 6, 2017 by mead107
Mr. WEO Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 I didn't think Simms was that bad. Orders of magnitude better than Aikmanbot.
GunnerBill Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 I didn't think Simms was that bad. Orders of magnitude better than Aikmanbot. His uselessness was funny in a way Aikmanbot isn't. He is just deathly dull.
vincec Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 Let's be honest- since Madden and Summerall ended, broadcast teams have been clown shows.
KD in CA Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 I don't understand the Aikman hate at all. He's knowledge and doesn't talk too much.
WhoTom Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 Let's be honest- since Madden and Summerall ended, broadcast teams have been clown shows. Michaels and Madden made a great team after Summerall retired. But other than that, I pretty much agree.
Guest NeckBeard Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 Good for that dude. I thought he was a pretty good QB, but after the spate of injuries, I am both glad that he came to his senses, and that someone offered him another pretty sweet gig.
CowgirlsFan Posted April 8, 2017 Posted April 8, 2017 Going to be an honorary Dallas Maverick on Tuesday for their last home game vs the Denver Nuggets. He will suit up and sit on their bench.

Honestly don't get why the networks are so eager to get him. never saw Tony as a riveting speaker. Romo sense that his health at this point is more important than another shot at a ring. The booth is a safe bet where as one more blow to the head or getting slammed down on his neck isn't.
TheFunPolice Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 I don't understand the Aikman hate at all. He's knowledge and doesn't talk too much. Plus he was totally ready to lose to the Bills in that SB rematch. Sadly the Bills didn't want to take it.
CowgirlsFan Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 I hope he does well.make cgf happy. Thank you! Truly bittersweet yet he'll never want for money. Here's my take on the retirement. He wanted to continue playing yet he has a passion for golf too. A few weeks back he played golf and the rumor has it he played his worse round in years. I feel he then realized since he played so badly at golf if he continued to play football he might never be able to play golf again.
bbb Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 Plus he was totally ready to lose to the Bills in that SB rematch. Sadly the Bills didn't want to take it. These days, he would be in concussion protocol, I would think.
26CornerBlitz Posted April 12, 2017 Author Posted April 12, 2017 @SportsCenter Mark Cuban wanted Tony Romo to suit up for the Mavs last night. Adam Silver said the contract would not be honored. http://es.pn/2osKlNa
Rico Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 I don't understand the Aikman hate at all. He's knowledge and doesn't talk too much.Agreed. Light years better than Simms. Joe Buck is the problem there. Michaels and Madden made a great team after Summerall retired. But other than that, I pretty much agree. Yep. Summerall was brutal, the anti-Gus Johnson.
OldTimeAFLGuy Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 I don't understand the Aikman hate at all. He's knowledge and doesn't talk too much. ....nor do I understand the trashing of Simms....imagine if many of the youngins' here were exposed to Frank, Dandy Don & Howard like us old farts?......
