Ice bowl 67 Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 In Buffalo fans opinions do you guys think the Bills outplayed GB that day or was it the Bills defense that totally won the game? I rewatched a lot of the 2014 season and the Bills really came to play and the Packers might have read their own press clippings. Still doesn't take away from the fact that the Bills totally shut down the Packers offense and their special teams made a few big plays. What do you Bills fans think? Stephen Gilmore was a total beast that day.
ChiGoose Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 I think the defense lead the way, but we did outplay them. I think it's still the worst game Rodgers has played in his career. We also swept the NFC North, which was fun for someone living in Chicago. This was the game that made me feel like we were on the threshold of being a playoff caliber team. Whoops.
BillnutinHouston Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 (edited) I think Jordy's drop killed them. He probably would have outrun Aaron Williams and gone to the house, and that would have changed the game. Edited March 20, 2017 by BillnutinHouston

We had a outstanding rush D on Rodgers all day.
FireChan Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 That was a great hard-hitting game. Probably up and down the best collective game that defense played all year.
Roundybout Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 One of the best games ive ever been to. When we strip-sacked Rogers at the end, you couldn't help but think that we were playoff bound.

That was my thought too. Ended up being a roller coaster year: beating teams that were better than us, and losing to teams that were worse than us.
Ice bowl 67 Posted March 20, 2017 Author Posted March 20, 2017 We just came off a 43-37 win over the Falcons that previous Monday night. We had a 31-7 halftime lead and almost blew it. You guys remember watching that game at all? I almost think after the first half of that game we didnt play well or blew our load tell the last game of the year against the Lions.

Maybe they were reading their own press clippings from the week before win. IIRC that might have been Denver.
jr1 Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 Pack were overconfident for sure. Props to the d and special teams though
Bookie Man Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 I feel like they had an off day and we hit the big plays we needed. Thigpens punt return TD and Jordy's wide open drop was a 14 point swing right there. If I remember correctly, we had the majority of the calls or no calls go or way also. Gilmore got away with a few blatant holds on 3rd down if I remember that right.
clearwater cadet Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 Bills got lucky with the Nelson drop, Pack was a little off that day for what ever reason.
Ice bowl 67 Posted March 20, 2017 Author Posted March 20, 2017 The time before the Bills played us tough in Lambeau. I remember at halftime it was a very close game at the time. We pulled away in the 2nd half but still the score didnt indicate that.
YoloinOhio Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 (edited) Both. Bills offense was awful. There were the few game changers like the Jordy drop, and Thigpen PR and obviously the Mario strip/safety at the end but Gilmore also dropped a pick 6. Just one of those games. I also think McCarthy went away from the run too soon. Lacy was having success on the ground when Schwartz was rotating the front 4 but he didn't stick with it. Bills were a very average and inconsistent team that year which led to the egg laid the following week vs the crap Raiders. A game essentially won by Andre Holmes beating Corey Graham on a contested catch, actually. And here we are, minus Graham and plus Holmes. Edited March 20, 2017 by YoloinOhio
Flip Johnson Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 That game was not an anomaly. Packers were a weak road team that year. They came in 3-3 on the road and ended up 4-4.
GunnerBill Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 The defense was brilliant against the Packers.... the Bills were rolling..... remember we went to Oakland the next week, got the ball marched down to go up 7-0 and I thought "this is it... this is it the drought is over" we sucked the rest of that Oakland game. So sad.
jimmy10 Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 I will never forget that game. A.A. Ron Rodgers got picked twice by a dude named Rambo! You can't make that stuff up.
Ice bowl 67 Posted March 20, 2017 Author Posted March 20, 2017 We finished 12-4 that year. I actually thought we were the best team in football but we lost to Seattle in a heartbreaker. Still a very tough loss to swallow today. I believe we could have beaten the Patriots in the superbowl. This last year Atlanta was the much better team then us though.

How could we play the Falcons and the Packers in the same year? Different divisions.
