merlin Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 I heard rumors that the Browns would be cutting him (for cap reasons, and his refusal to re-work his contract). If he becomes available, he would be a GREAT backup for JP ... that is, if he would agree to be the backup. He's probably good enough to be starter for a number of teams in the league. If that doesn't work out for the Bills, my 2nd choice of the "names" out there right now would be Brad Johnson. Go BILLS!!!
clayboy54 Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 Holcomb is likely to want an opportunity to compete for a starting job. That would eliminate him from consideration. At his age, he would be foolish not to try to be a starter for somebody. We will do better finding a vet that is willing to sit and help the youngster.

Eventually many of them will realize this and accept a starting job behind a young QB who has a high risk of being injured.
BRH Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 Holcomb's agent is hopefully smart enough to realize that his best chance of starting this year is in Cleveland while he mentors Aaron Rodgers or Alex Smith. There just aren't any other starting spots available right now. Look for Holcomb to restructure his deal at the last minute tonight and remain in Cleveland.
