Green Lightning Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 Here we go with versatile again. Maybe we get a player that actually masters a single position? When he gets beat it's cold comfort that he can play safety as well.
Pete Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 Looks like they want to give multiple looks in the secondary with Hyde, and maybe this guy. Not a bad idea in this passing league. I agree and love this thinking. That is also why I think the Bills might be leaning toward OJ Howard over Wiliams and Davis. With Clay and OJ, that t is great for disguising looks
Billsman623 Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 I'd imagine worse case scenario he'd be ready by week 4, but maybe sooner. Who knows. Worth signing. Make it happen.
Paul Costa Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 This would be a solid get. Not necessarily for next year but for the next several years!!
NoSaint Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 (edited) I don't mind grabbing a devalued asset but I'd love to also add something premium to the secondary before the season. I'll keep repeating that we have been very spoiled with our secondary play and I'd hate to be here when the unit is average to lagging below potentially. The only returning starter in a nickel package is Darby who I like but has been hot/cold and is not a reliable #1 corner. Hyde is a nice piece but not great. We need to add a premium CB and WR and day two of the draft is not a reliable spot to be reaching for need for a day one starter at a premium position. Edited March 16, 2017 by NoSaint

It makes sense to have interchangeable parts in the secondary to be able to respond to the offense.

gonzo1105 Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 I've been a huge fan of Sheads. I know he tore his ACL late last year but I can't believe the Seahawks didn't tender him as an RFA. This is a great get for a team running a zone defense like we will be. This is one I would really like to see get done

This is one I would really like to see get done from what I am reading they do want him back ... but decided not to tender and let him test the market. Hope we get him.
White Linen Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 I like Shead a lot and was hoping we'd be interested. Big kid that plays physical. If he didn't tear his ACL - he would have cost a team a large sum - still might.

JohnBonhamRocks Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 Bills fans should be hoping more. Our GM is more prone to take on your lame and infirm... But, more seriously, the guy was good out here in the PNW. He would make a solid addition. Maybe even bring that Seattle rugby tackling technique with him? But is he? http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/192730-our-fas-and-durability/
papazoid Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 (edited) this would be outstanding.... bold statement......better than gilmore almost as good vs pass......way better vs run sign him LONG term....wait til mid season if need be Edited March 16, 2017 by papazoid
Green Lightning Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 nope harder for the qb to get pre snap reads if he doesn't know what the defense will do. I get that. Just been my experience that safety is where CBs who lose a step end up. QBs also tend to avoud shut down CBs.
BillnutinHouston Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 Wow this would be outstanding. In addition to everything else that's been said, apparently he was a team captain for the Seahawks.
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 Wow, you mean there's another team in fact a team that won a super Bowl recently that must have a front office as clueless as Buffalo does. That's amazing! I've been a huge fan of Sheads. I know he tore his ACL late last year but I can't believe the Seahawks didn't tender him as an RFA. gatorbait Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 Versatile and can play multiple positions, special teams captain, playoff experience. Would love this!
