Buffalo86 Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 Let's talk about Chad Kel-ly Let's talk about him you and me Let's talk about all the good things Andd the bad things That can be Let's talk aboouut Chad Ha! I thought the same thing when I opened this thread. The first line or two, at least.
Buffalo Barbarian Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 Oh, snap... You're about as good with the trash talk as you are at identifying QB talent. That was not a compliment, btw. you know you like that
Alphadawg7 Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 That touchdown at the 140 mark is so sick This highlight reel looks better than Mahomes highlight reel to me. The thing to consider in consecutive order goes as follows: 1) His skill set is undeniable. 2) He's a 1st-rounder when you cut out off the field issues 3) Off the field behavior can be adjusted or matured 4) He's highly likelihood of going in the late 3rd to early 4th round The question is whether or not they should grab him at this point in time or take the risk of not drafting him and hope he's a UDFA. In my personal opinion, if he doesn't live up to be a great QB as Jim Kelly, he will always been seen as a mistake. Why is that? Because too many Bills fans continue to whine, respectfully so, with the outcomes of our franchise. If we grab him, things will be up in the air for a while. If not, then we never know what potential he had in Buffalo. In other terms, pick him up. If they see him as a real talent, I would not be upset if we packaged our two 5ths to move up and get him earlier.
LABILLBACKER Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 Mahomes in the 2nd Peterman in the 5th Kelly in the 6th
Buffalo Barbarian Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 This highlight reel looks better than Mahomes highlight reel to me. if Kelly's junior and senior seasons were switched he would be the number one prospect hands down, not even a question. He would be number one this yr if it wasn't for old news about bad behavior. Not a big fan of any QB this yr but I would Take Kelly over the rest. If he can learn a pro offense and overcome throwing into bad coverage, we will have our franchise QB. Mahomes in the 2nd Peterman in the 5th Kelly in the 6th Peterman is garbage I don't even get why he is even a consideration.
PromoTheRobot Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 I will bite... 1. Because Jim is still so connected to this team already and he is a blood relative. 2. Jim already stuck up for him on his behalf to get him invited again to the combine after they cancelled his invite, so he is clearly still attached to this kids trajectory. 3. What pressure? If this kid was coming in as a high draft pick, sure maybe some pressure. But this kid would be a low round investment at best. 4. Jim was a LONG time ago and we have gone through a TON of bad QB's...at this point, there is no pressure on this kid to be the 2nd coming of his uncle. There are no comparisons to Jim. He isnt faced with living up to his Uncles legacy. So this idea of pressure because of Jim to me is just very over blown. 1) Jim has mentored Chad for years. 2) Chad still does stupid stuff. 3) Why expect Jim to make a difference now?
Jay_Fixit Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 If you think Chad Kelly will somehow drop to the 5 round then you are sadly mistaking. Quarterback are on every teams radar. Some team will take the gamble and suck him up by the end of round 3 Sure he made a few mistakes but these are young men. Lots of players get in trouble but the team protects them and it goes unreported. If you really, really like him then the Bills better outsmart a few NFL teams. Me, I grab him in the 3rd and never look back....I believe he is a 1st rounder that lost his way. I can live with a 3rd round mistake Could be the steal of the draft even in the 3rd He'll go undrafted. Nothing mistaken about it.
PromoTheRobot Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 He's on the list of Bills pre-draft visits.
ndirish1978 Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 He'll go undrafted. Nothing mistaken about it. Wanna bet? Loser leaves the board?
Iraq Vet Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 Every one said Johnny football is the next John Elway.... Matt Liehart was going to stun the league.... Anyone remember the book on Tim Couch... Ryan Leaf? Tim Tebow was going to transform the game.... Next subject....
billykaykay Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 Wanna bet? Loser leaves the board? I'm with you Ndirish. This kid will go in rounds 3-5. Talent trumps off field teenage immaturity.
Iraq Vet Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 He's on the list of Bills pre-draft visits. Probably just a favor to Jim Kelly....
OldTimer1960 Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 From a board that just threw a 100 page fit about potentially losing compensatory picks for next year, drafting Chadwick "Self-Destruct Mode" Kelly as high as round 3 is pretty styoopid. I was sensing the same irony.
Radar Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 (edited) From what I gather he is,character wise, not what seems to be good for us. Many will point to Jim Kelly and say he was arrogant and what not, but he was also one great quarterback. Chad I don't think talent wise compensates for his character issues. ndirish1978 Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 I'm with you Ndirish. This kid will go in rounds 3-5. Talent trumps off field teenage immaturity. Shhh, WE know that but he doesn't. If I have to take individual bets to thin out the heard of terrible BBMBers, well that is a burden I'm willing to take on.
starrymessenger Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 If we haven't already pulled the trigger on someone else I have a hard time passing on him if he is there in the fifth. Looks like a very talented QB to me. I don't care if he's a little crazy as long as he's not young Richie batsh*t crazy.
Dr. Who Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 I was in favor of a late flier on the kid, but the maturity issues are really concerning. He doesn't seem Jim Kelly brash and a little rough around the edges. He seems Johnny Manziel entitled stupid who still doesn't get it.
JESSEFEFFER Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 Here's a list of things he's done in no particular order: 1) Kicked off HS team for threatening a teacher (hearsay) 2) The Bar incident with bouncers 3) Swearing at coaches in spring game at Clemson for punting on 4th and short 4) Running on the field at SJ's game to support his brother 5) Texting the backup at Clemson (Cole Stoudt?) that he was coming for his job and that he was #2 for a reason 6) Being at a poker party and using marijuana 7) Parking lot incident involving a fender bender, a teammate and threatening the other party. 8) Texting back and forth with a porn star. 9) Recorded a rap song about himself. I really enjoyed watching him play at Ol' Miss. He is hyper competitve to a fault in the societal sense but it works fine on a football field. You do not do what he did against Alabama both times by being a coward or playing scared. I often think about what kind of additional trouble our beloved SB Bills would have gotten into in the age of hyper social media. I see him as a better athlete than Jim but with a slighter build. Of all the bad behavior listed above, I think that #5 is the worst in the football/locker room sense. Is he a good teammate or does he act like a jerk there too? That and how coachable he is are the two questions I'd want answered before I used any draft choice on him. I suspect that he is not any worse of a human being than Jim was at that age and that he needs coaches that know how to coddle his ego.
Maury Ballstein Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 He's on the list of Bills pre-draft visits. When you're in qb purgatory you look for qb's no ?
filthymcnasty08 Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 When you're in qb purgatory you look for qb's no ? This. If it costs us a pick - I am ok with it.
