Solomon Grundy Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 He reminds me of JP Losman, whose teammates hated him because he was cocky for no reason and broke his leg his rookie year. I didn't know he was revered by his teammates?
bills_fan_in_raleigh Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 he was not in a brawl but was on the field to protect his brother , weed schmeed he will pass the test, he's not Dareus Of course I would but he has talent so im willing to overlook his incidents, don't care about his name, he has the best arm in a looong time with all around ability. If he didn't have the worst line ever and didn't lose Laquan Treadwell he would have as good or better season than 2015 and would have been the top QB. saw a segment on ESPN with their science person and he said Kelly was best hit target every time from 10 and 15 yards. Guy seems to have the arm and if he is available in 4th or 5th depending on other needs I say grab him. See if a little maturing around a professional football team can help mature the raw talent
BillsFan17 Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 So 6 months ago he ran out onto a field to protect his brother and a month later a pic surfaced of him at a table with 2 guy who had blunts in front of them (I'm getting older and I'll admit my eyes aren't as good as they used to be, but I can't clearly see him with any pot)? Hell being seen on video smoking pot through a gas mask gets you drafted in the 1st round these days! Yes,six months ago while he's supposed to be recovering from a torn ACL acting like a total jack... As far as the snapchat photos, spin it anyway you want, but it's more proof of poor decision making after poor decision making. The Tunsil comparison is not a strong base for this. Tunsil was an extremely weak. The kid by all accounts was rated one of the best players in the draft. Got caught smoking and dropped in the first round. Upon being drafted would be entered into the NFLs substance abuse program. Kelly has a long history of immaturity and complete lack of accountability to go along with an even longer laundry list of injuries. Would possibly have been in the mix with Trubisky, Watson and Mahomes. However, was nowhere near the prospect Tunsil was, even at a position that is over drafted.
ALF Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 Now that the Bills have (3) 5th rd picks , gamble 1 of those on Kelly I think McD would be a good influence on him , Rex would be a disaster
Guest K-GunJimKelly12 Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 Chad Kelly is the only QB in the draft who checks all the boxes.
PromoTheRobot Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 (edited) Chad Kelly is really amazing, isn't he? I really love how his fanboys talk about Tyrod's wins and losses but totally ignore how Kelly did at Ol'Miss. In case you forgot, the Rebels were ranked #12 by the AP in the preseason poll. https://syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/2659104.amp.htmlz In 9 games, Kelly was 4-5 with two of those wins against powerhouses Wofford and Georgia Southern. We complain about Taylor's inability to lead the Bills from behind while Kelly came up small in every big game he played. So tell me again why this guy is so special? Oh right, his uncle. Yea he only beat Alabama as a junior then went 26 of 40 for 421 yards 3 TD's and 0 ints in a 48-43 loss this season. He totally sucks. In seriousness, that Ole Miss team was not very good this year. The offensive line was terrible. Don't believe me, go watch the 2nd half of the season opener against Florida State and tell me on averge how much time Kelly had to throw. You sound like a guy who doesn't actually watch college football but loves to throw random stats out. Also since when has where a team finishes in correlation with pre-season poll have anything to do with evaluating the starting QB. Just ridiculous. Also 4 of the 5 teams he lost to finished, 2, 8, 13 and 24 in the final rankings.
zow2 Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 I don't care for the person much, but can't deny his football ability. He was supposed to be the next great Clemson QB but an injury and off the field nonsense finished him. Ole Miss gave him a shot and he totally made that team an offensive force. Something tells me if he can get over the injury hurdle, he will be a good pro QB.

Trying to help your brother is acting like a total jack...? It's not like he went onto some random field and started assaulting people. And I'd say that smoking pot through a gas mask is far worse than being seen at a table with 2 guys who have blunts in front of them, regardless of how good a prospect you may be. Sure the inference is that Kelly might have been smoking as well, but you cannot say for sure and as far as I know, he's never failed a drug test. In Tunsil's case, you cannot claim that he didn't smoke pot. And nowhere have I advocated taking Kelly high, much less in the top 10 of the draft like in Tunsil's case. Sure he's done some dumb things. Nothing horrible though and mostly blown out of proportion because of who he is. But he's had no incidents for 6 months now. I'd still take a chance and draft him in the 5th round.

I think the final straw at Clemson was him yelling at the coaches for punting on 4th and short, which I see as a positive.

A football play got out of control aND there were plenty of people there who are in place to get it under control. What's going to happen if Chad gets jacked up, as fans should we storm the field to protect him? Come on. Stop wirh the protecting his brother narrative. If anything the people that had to restrain him weren't able to address the actual incident on the field. As far as smoking or not smoking the substance. That's not the issue. The issue is consistently putting your self in bad situations without regard for ramifications. As far as the time between incidents... really six months is all you need? Cause it took two years between the getting kicked off Clemson and the whole bar fight where he went after his arresting officer... ya know after saying he was going to get an AK and spray the place.

Promo, what "powerhouse" teams did QBs like Big Ben, Derek Carr, Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco, etc. play against? We are speaking Chad Kelly's football abilities. He is a talented QB who, according to ESPNs Sports Science, was the most accurate QB they've seen in the last 6 seasons of the show and since Jameis Winston. The number one problem with Tyrod Taylor is his accuracy along with his anticipation. According to many "draft experts" if not for his off field troubles and his injured knee/hand he'd be projected at the top of this QB class

BillsBoner21 Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 As a Bills fan and naturally a Jim Kelly fan, I would love to see Chad Kelly come play for the Buffalo Bills.. He has had his fair share of off field issues, but his arm strength and accuracy are better than any of the top QB's projected this year. Had he not gotten hurt, nor had the off field issues.. he would be the top prospect in the draft. I would love to see the Bills take a chance on him in the 6th round if he is still available. I do think it would be tough on him though.. his uncle is the best QB the Bills have ever had and probably one of the most popular people the city of Buffalo has ever had... He has big shoes to fill coming to Buffalo, but maybe his Uncle Jim can keep him calmed and when it's his time, he can show us what he's all about. He played his SR year in the SEC, which is one of the best, if not the best NCAA football conference in College Football.. He is a tough, strong arm and accurate QB. He is not afraid to take a hit and he will take off and run with the ball and not shy away from a hit. I like the kid, I just hope he cleans up his off field issues.
DriveFor1Outta5 Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 Here's a list of things he's done in no particular order: 1) Kicked off HS team for threatening a teacher (hearsay) 2) The Bar incident with bouncers 3) Swearing at coaches in spring game at Clemson for punting on 4th and short 4) Running on the field at SJ's game to support his brother 5) Texting the backup at Clemson (Cole Stoudt?) that he was coming for his job and that he was #2 for a reason 6) Being at a poker party and using marijuana 7) Parking lot incident involving a fender bender, a teammate and threatening the other party. 8) Texting back and forth with a porn star. 9) Recorded a rap song about himself. I really enjoyed watching him play at Ol' Miss. He is hyper competitve to a fault in the societal sense but it works fine on a football field. You do not do what he did against Alabama both times by being a coward or playing scared. I often think about what kind of additional trouble our beloved SB Bills would have gotten into in the age of hyper social media. I see him as a better athlete than Jim but with a slighter build. Of all the bad behavior listed above, I think that #5 is the worst in the football/locker room sense. Is he a good teammate or does he act like a jerk there too? That and how coachable he is are the two questions I'd want answered before I used any draft choice on him. I suspect that he is not any worse of a human being than Jim was at that age and that he needs coaches that know how to coddle his ego. The kid has a poor track record as evidenced by your list of his transgressions. It still doesn't mean I wouldn't sign him as UDFA. There's really nothing to lose in that scenario. Everything he did on your list was immature and idiotic. However on a more humorous note, I wish more players would yell at coaches for punting on fourth and short. I'm good with that
ALF Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 So tell me again why this guy is so special? Oh right, his uncle. Chad is a lottery ticket 5 th or 6 th rd that is worth a try to me. He does have ability and potential.

Mr. WEO Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 Chad Kelly is the only QB in the draft who checks all the boxes. Already injured....check questionable character....check significant suspension potential....check yup, he's the perfect Bills pick.
