i still don't believe he will go undrafted and i think if the bills wait, hell be gone. i believe he will mature ,heal and be a helluva qb in this league and i hope it's in buffalo.

the only qb i think could be drafted before 10 is watson by the jets. however, i think the jets take oj howard and look to 2018 for their qb.

i would take trubisky at 10...trade down a few spots in the second and pick up a 4th. take zay jones in the second and kelly with the 4th.

i would put c.j. on the p.s. and kelly pup. let him heal, mature and compete next year. barring a playoff run tyrod goes in a trade next year.

i'll get flamed for sure but i don't care. it's the most important position in sports and it's about time the bills started paying attention to it. that being said, i hope whaley's not making the decisions when it comes to qb.

for all those people who would say i'm nuts, let me ask this...we spent a 4th on c.j. and in comparison talent wise, chad kelly couldn't be any worse of a selection at the same exact spot?

On the field concerns. Off the field concerns. Medical concerns...

You're right. Why draft him?

But I don't know how much I'd want him as a UDFA. Do you really want Jim calling McD to ask why Chad's not getting enough reps?

Above all else that is my biggest concern. It isn't about Jim as much as Bills fans. We still have people on this board that think EJ should have played more. Can you imagine the clamoring for Kelly regardless of what kind of player he is?!? There are people on this board that admittedly know very little about him that think that he is the answer. If his name was Smith, I would probably think that he would be a good late round, UDFA boom or bust prospect. The Kelly name for me is the EXACT reason that the Bills shouldn't go after him. They will not be able to move forward at that position with him on the roster. The 10% chance that he ends up a franchise guy isn't worth the 90% chance that Sal in Cheektowaga calls the John Murphy show 5 days a week talking about how Chad Kelly just needs a chance. Sal has never seen 1 snap of Chad Kelly.

I actually think that he is pretty talented but makes some poor decisions (just talking on the field). If you couple that with his injuries and off the field concerns he could be an absolute disaster in Buffalo. I think that he would be better off elsewhere.

If I had to put numbers on it, I would say that out of all the Bills fans who want the Bills to draft Chad Kelly (probably 10% of them - my guess) honestly might have wanted him even if his last name wasn't Kelly. The other 90% of those people (or thereabouts) are biased because of his last name.

Dude had a season ending injury that could have permanently affected his physical abilities. Then he failed his pro day basic passing test. Now he has surgery on his throwing hand. So nobody knows how that is going to affect his ability to pass (which wasn't stellar to begin with). Yet there are at least a couple handfuls of people who still want the Bills to waste one of their very limited and precious draft picks on the guy. The odds of this guy overcoming everything and becoming a franchise QB in the NFL are next to zero - like really really really close to zero. Between the physical stuff and the mental stuff - no friggin way.

I don't care if Chad Kelly gets a shot in the NFL or not. I think that (if he does) he will make Ryan Fitzpatrick look like an accurate passer. So I hope if Kelly gets a shot, he gets his shot on a team the Bills can play 2x every year. Seeing him running for his life and getting his ass handed to him by the Bills would be pure enjoyment.

It would make for even better entertainment when the story breaks after the game that Chad tried to fight the ball boy on the sideline because he thought the boy made a face at him.

We may not agree, but that last part was funny!!

😅😅

If Chad was a Bill, he'd be the most hyped late round pick / UDFA we've seen since Michael Jasper, so he'd at least have that going for him.

He would make Michael Jasper look like Mark Asper!! I would bet anything that he would be the highest selling jersey on the team (and he may be a PS guy).

With the newest operation I would be suprised if he doesn't go undrafted

You know what...forget it...dont waste a pick. He will be availabe in the udfa's

I wouldn't mind seeing the Bills burn a late round pick on Kelly. His off field issues are a bit over blown and speak more him being a bit immature and entitled as opposed to him having deep personal demons or being in with the wrong crowd. He has had some injuries but his talent level is good enough to where a 6th or 7th round pick would be a good enough pick to throw out at him to see if he can sit and develop for a couple of years. I know the team has Jones as a project QB occupying the 3rd spot but having another one is never a bad idea esp when you are spending such a late round pick on him.

Kelly could also be placed on IR his rookie year and allowed to rehab his injuries and get comfortable with the system and the organization. I really wouldn't mind seeing Kelly but anything more than a 6th rounder wouldn't be worth it. Honestly do think that he will be undrafted for some reason.

You said this in the other thread and I'll tell you the same thing again. You have no idea what your talking about. Ole Miss runs a very complex offense, Kelly was the leading passer in the SEC in 2015 and was leading again in 2016 until the acl injury. I'll point out again his 740 yards and 6td's and 0 int's in 2 games against Alabama. He is a knucklehead but to pretend that he doesn't have talent is just wrong.

So is the Ole Miss offense that had to be simplified for him going to be more or less complex than any NFL offense he will be required to run?

I never said he doesn't have any talent. I have acknowledged (in both threads) that he does. It's just that he has a ton of problem areas as well and I've spelled them out pretty clearly. Many of them, individually, would prevent a QB from being successful in the NFL. If he had just one of them he might be able to fix it, but he has a slew of problems and has yet to show the work ethic to improve. Sorry, but he doesn't get to play college teams anymore. Now he gets to go up against the likes of New England, Pittsburgh and Baltimore. You think he'll ever be up to that? I sure don't. And having a segment of Bills fans that think he will because of gaudy college numbers and his family connection clamoring for him to start won't help the team either.

 I still have his jersey.

Oh yeah. Didn't the team give that to you on the field and you got to meet Repsaj the Great? I vaguely remember something cool about that.

I think this board needs to be simplified for you since you think your analysis of Kelly is better than Bill Polians.

The best thing for Chad and for the Bills is for him to go to another team and I think even Jim would agree with that. They are doing their due diligence on all the QBs so they aren't going to purposely leave him out, but all parties in involved likely know he should go somewhere without the pressure of being Jim's nephew, his local reputation, and the awkwardness that would ensure with Jim and the organization if they wanted to cut him or he screws up again, this time representing the Bills

You guys who take that Polian statement as if it was 100% truthful and unbiased are surely fooling yourselves.

That statement was nothing more than a Polian doing a favor for a friend. (something good friends often do for one another) - especially when they are in the perfect position to do so.

If what Polian said was true, why in the world isn't Chad Kelly visiting or being called on by other teams? He's not. In fact it is totally plausible that he goes undrafted and doesn't even sign with a team after the draft. Can't believe that is so hard for Bills fans to come to grips with. You don't owe that kid anything. He got a rare shot at something that only a very small percentage of people get. He should have made the most of it.

Yeah, it blows my mind that anyone takes anything being said at draft time in the media as gospel. Polian doing a favor for the Kelly family. Just like he did for all of his sons friends when he got them jobs in the NFL. Just like Adam Schefter did when he talked up Doug Marrone because they share an agent.

Of course, Polian thought Curtis Painter and Jim Sgori were NFL qbs so maybe he is that bad at recognizing qb prospects.

1) he threw a temper tantrum at a major unversity during a spring game which he included arguing with coaches and throwing balls on the field like a spoiled little brat.

2) he then threaten to shoot up a bar with an AK? How would a non-Kelly been dealt with in that situation? People have been treated a lot worse by the police for a lot less.

3) he has been physically removed from several other bars that haven't gotten reported.

4) he gets put on blast by a pornwhore. More stupid decision making.

5) he tried to fight high school because of a football hit.

6) he is on Snapchat with weed present while he is rehabbing and trying to get drafted.

Have you ever seen a successful NFL qb with that many dumb decisions?

It's pretty clear what the story is by this point. Some here see the last name and the ties to the area and are willing to overlook a myriad of issues. Others see a QB with a checkered past as the best way to describe it and are not very interested. Half here think he's a day 2 pick and the other half think he goes undrafted.

I think he is neither day 2 pick nor undrafted; I think he gets drafted 3rd day as project so there is a third half.

So we've got a thread (or 7) about a college QB who isn't even going to get drafted in one of the worst QB drafts in the history of mankind. Why?

Because it is better than talking about baseball.

That new math is a beautiful thing.
