Dragonborn10 Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 From ESPN, Patriots off-season 2001. A remarkable haul that included cornerback Terrell Buckley, guard Mike Compton, linebacker Bryan Cox, fullback Marc Edwards, quarterback Damon Huard, linebacker Larry Izzo, receiver David Patten, linebacker Roman Phifer, defensive end Anthony Pleasant, running back Antowain Smith, and linebacker Mike Vrabel. It's hard to imagine there will ever be another free-agent class in New England that has the impact of '01. This FA class and and the emergence of Brady define Belichick. Are McDermott and Whaley trying to find the same magic? So far they have signed a number of mid-level guys that are position/scheme versatile. We have safeties that can play corner, a RG/RT, two FB/RB, a kicker that can kick-off(who would have thought of that)and some 4/5 WR types that can contribute on ST's. I want the comp pick for Gilmore and Woods too, but adding a number of guys like they have can transform a team like it did for Belichick. I know. I know. TT isn't Brady. Well Brady wasn't Brady with this group in 2001.
Houston's #1 Bills Fan Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 History is destine to repeat itself? I would love to think that, but there's still that Flutie Curse hanging over OBD.....
