OldTimeAFLGuy Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 ....kiss 'n make up time?.. Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald reports free agent CB Malcolm Butler "wants to make it work in New England." Howe adds Butler does not plan to hold out if he is forced to play the season under the first-round tender, which will pay $3.91 million. All of this disputes a report from CSN New England's Mike Giardi, who said Butler wants out of Foxboro. Howe did say Stephone Gilmore's contract was a "gut punch" to Butler and the corner "has received interest from several teams." Whether it happens this year or next, this situation seems to be headed toward divorce. Mar 13 - 11:43 AM Source: Jeff Howe on Twitter
Sherlock Holmes Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 Why can't Gronk and Brady and Belicheat become disgruntled... Want ultimate revenge and sign with us and take us to the next 50 Super Bowl victories?
Eric Moulds on my A** Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 Well let me ask you this... shut up Whatcha gonna do if I don't? Threaten me? 3 times maybe? Tough guy
ALF Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 @pfcentral I can confirm four teams have contacted New England about dealing their first round pick for Malcolm Butler. One team is in AFC East. Biggest holdup? Giving up their 1st and having to pay such a lucrative contract . Well duh A draft deep at CB for a cheap rookie contract . Please don't give hoodie another 1st rd pick.
White Linen Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 (edited) Whatcha gonna do if I don't? Threaten me? 3 times maybe? Tough guy Tough guys don't love soup as much as I do. I'm guessing you didn't like "The Simpsons" quote. Hilarious. Edited March 14, 2017 by Triple Threat
Eric Moulds on my A** Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 Tough guys don't love soup as much as I do. Considering the associated RISK of burning ones mouth when enjoying a soup and the RISK taking mentality of said "Tough Guy"..I gotta say, it must be true.
frostbitmic Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 Hopefully Butler gives the patriots* as much effort as we got out of Gilmore last year and from Byrd in his final year here.
Gugny Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 If the Bills sign him, they'd essentially be trading Gilmore and a first round pick for Butler. If Whaley did that, he not only should be fired, he should be shot. Shot? It's a game. Chill out.
gr8billsfan Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 (edited) Come over to Buffalo, we got room for you in our home. Just don't be asking an outrageous amount of $$....lol. Edited March 14, 2017 by gr8billsfan
Iron Maiden Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 but Brady gave him a pickup Yeah...but the gas tank was almost empty.....that's a deal breaker right there...
Chuck Wagon Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 Could we have put a RFA tag on Gilmore or was he not eligible? I honestly don't know anything about the RFA tenders, but it seems like Gilmore and Woods would have been prime candidates.
Beef Jerky Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 Shot? It's a game. Chill out. Too much money is involved for this to be just "a game" anymore.
Sammy Watkins' Rib Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 Ian Rapoport Retweeted 35m Jeff Howe @jeffphowe All that said, I was given a strong indication Butler prefers to be a "Patriot for life." He wants to make it work in New England. We all know there is only one Patriot for life and he doesn't wear Butler's number.
YoloinOhio Posted March 14, 2017 Author Posted March 14, 2017 Could we have put a RFA tag on Gilmore or was he not eligible? I honestly don't know anything about the RFA tenders, but it seems like Gilmore and Woods would have been prime candidates. it isn't a tag, he's not eligible. He had at least 4 years in (5 since bills triggered his option as he was a 1st Rd pick) so he'd automatically a UFA unless they franchise or transition tag.
YoloinOhio Posted March 14, 2017 Author Posted March 14, 2017 @rapsheet On #Saints & Malcolm Butler: Theyve begun negotiations on a new contract & hope to strike a deal this week. Then talk trade with #Patriots
Chuck Wagon Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 @rapsheet On #Saints & Malcolm Butler: Theyve begun negotiations on a new contract & hope to strike a deal this week. Then talk trade with #Patriots So basically it's going to end up being Cooks for Butler after all.
YoloinOhio Posted March 14, 2017 Author Posted March 14, 2017 So basically it's going to end up being Cooks for Butler after all. actually if it's a straight RFA signing, they need to give up their original #1 pick which is pick #11. But apparently the Pats might work something out on their own with NO to move him because NO doesn't want to give up that much. Not sure how that works.
Iron Maiden Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 If he stays, their secondary will be really good....if he leaves, we'll hear how BB is a genius because he took an UDFA , coached him up for 3 years, and turned him into a 1st round pick....
Call_Of_Ktulu Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 Belichick playing chess while everyone else plays checkers. Whaley playing tic tac toe... Tic Tac Toe? I was thinking more like thumb wars or Rock Paper Scissors for Whaley.
