You can't even justify EJ as a backup.

sure you can. Especially if they are not drafting one till next year.

I say this thinking Cardale is good enough to step in gameday as #2. And EJM is a guy strong in the QBs room .

Lets pretend Tyrod gets injured and has to miss three games. You'd be comfortable with EJ starting in that time?

as i added. Cardale steps in as #2.

Just saying I can see them keeping him.

Certainly not an ideal scenario , but someone has to develop the practice squad

God can't believe Whaley used a first round pick on this guy.

We are so screwed with this guy running our team.

E J Manuel did well at the collegiate level IMO.

Cardale is not a number 2 QB, if EJ is not signed and no teams are going after him what does that say about Jones who couldn't surpass EJ on the depth chart. Whaley is a joke.

You are reading WAY too much into "Jones couldn't pass EJ on the depth chart." The Bills wanted to bring him along slowly. Once they were out of contention they let EJ start as a favor to the soon-to-be FA in a meaningless game. He may be out of the league now. There's no chance that EJ would have been ahead of Cardale if TT was out for an extended period. Cardale is a project that they wanted to develop. That's still the plan. There will be another QB here via the draft, trade or FA but it won't be EJ.

If you disagree he'll belittle you by saying "well gosh gee I'd love to have Brady backing up Tyrod but I'm not sure but I don't think that's how it works... [giggle] I dunno... "

Hahahahaha. That's perfect.

Please correct me if wrong

I googled it................nope

Seems strange to me.....even Gino Smith got a few tryouts

This was our #1 draft pick just a few years ago....

NO INTEREST & NO TRYOUTS???

.

seriously?

How is this even a real thought in someone's head...

EJ is so bad, and such a horrible QB, the question isn't about EJ getting a job here..

It's more on an indictment of how poor of a GM Doug Whaley truly is.

No one in their right mind would want this guy anywhere near the field, yet Whaley can not separate his ego from reality.

Hopefully, McDermott has total control f the roster now..

EJ has a head problem. that's a major reclamation project. he didn't lack physical tools. his mechanics can be fixed. but he is a project. he regressed in game time. That speaks to him, and the coaching job Marrone and Rex/whoever did. best in CFL. He's done. let's give the kid space. best wishes from Bills fans, EJ.

EJ Manuel came into this league as a mature 23 year old with 5 years at Florida State under a fantastic offensive staff with Jimbo Fisher in a pro style system. He should have been the furthest thing from a "raw project" and if that didn't send off alarm bells with Whaley then it's on him. From some leaked information from that draft, The Cowboys had a 4th Round grade on EJ while the Pats simply graded EJ as "athlete" to potentially be moved to another position.

The Bills simply fell in love with his measurables and leadership/yes sir/no sir attitude and simply ignored his accuracy, throwing motion, pocket awareness, and slow progression issues that plagued him at Florida State but were masked against weak opponents. When FSU finally played a good D like Florida, you saw the real EJ. Just a horrendous 1st Round pick by Nix/Whaley that was compounded by Whaley's huge ego not being able to admit his mistake. To say that EJ was a great prospect ruined by bad coaching with the Bills is total BS. He was a failed pick and QB from the start.

An NFL team missed on a first rounder??? The horror Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It's just not the total whiff on EJ that is the issue. It's Whaley's ego not letting him recognize his mistake and seeing him double down on Manuel with the Watkins trade, not bring in any reasonable competion for two years until Marrone blew a gasket and they signed Orton, nor draft another QB until Cardale Jones of last year in the 4th. It's Whaley reportedly pushing EJ down the throats of two seperate coaching stafss that clearly wanted nothing to do with him.

That's the thing about deciding "we need to draft a QB this year" rather than "is there a QB worthy of a high draft pick in this year's draft." The next year included Derek Carr, Teddy Bridgewater, Jimmy Garoppolo (umm, and Bortles and Manziel). And then the EJ "reach" was compounded by the desperation move of "let's see what he can do with an elite talent at receiver," resulting in the trade up to get Watkins in the deepest WR class in history. One interesting thing we've learned this offseason: a lot of otherwise knowledgeable fans around here have had a grossly inflated estimate of the value of their favorite players, whether it is Tyrod or EJ. The truth was Tyrod is valued about the same as Mike Glennon, EJ is valued about the same as Jordan Palmer. I think we'll pretty soon discover the same thing about McCoy and Sammy, that is, that a lot of people are wildly overestimating their value.

Sounds about right. I was hoping he could hang on as a backup at least but we saw how that worked out in the last game. Time to move on and not mention his name ever again.
