frostbitmic Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 His best year was his rookie year, he's been in decline ever since. I also didn't like the way he carried himself his last season here. NO TO BYRD !!!
Gunsgoodtime Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 I'm all for it. Will he help improve this team right now? Yes. If he can be signed cheap sign him
Mikie's Bills Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 Byrd is a smart player who is a ball hawk, but poor in every other aspects of his game. A bad tackler, not particularly brave and quite selfish all aspects that do not support team play. Also being on the same team as coach Byrd would undermine the dressing room. Did he just become a bad tackler in NO? Because he was very sure tackler here in Buffalo IIRC. Just found this article from December about his time in NO: For all of Byrd’s deficiencies, most notably his lack of takeaways, one thing has always confused me about his general perception. Byrd is one of the team’s better tacklers, possibly the best. http://www.foxsports.com/nfl/story/like-it-or-not-jairus-byrd-is-one-of-saints-best-defenders-122516
wppete Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 If for a good price why not bring him in as his father is the DB coach.
Maury Ballstein Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 If for a good price why not bring him in as his father is the DB coach. Because he turned into a joke in New Orleans.
K-9 Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 I don't know, Butch is a little long in the tooth. But he'd give a full effort and never even consider malingering.

The irrational Byrd hatred runs deep here. As Cover 1 recently documented, Byrd is still playing at a pretty high level and would be a welcome addition to the Bills' defensive backfield.
Dragonborn10 Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 He is on top 5 list of most overrated Bills of all time. No thanks.
OldTimeAFLGuy Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 His best year was his rookie year, he's been in decline ever since. I also didn't like the way he carried himself his last season here. NO TO BYRD !!! ...just say no to Byrd even if his old man is here....him and his late agent Parker burned too many bridges on his way out.....same as Parker did with Peters......re-sign Graham instead......
billsfan89 Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 I wouldn't mind bringing him back on a one year deal. At this point the Bills are desperate for safety help and the options are thinning by the minute. Byrd and Hyde would be a solid combo (Probably would need to find a depth option as well in there) and then they could focus on signing another corner.

I think it could go both ways. At the end of the day there's someone superior who can sort out problems if they arise (McDermott). We need some bodies right now if we identify Byrd as the best guy so be it. Apparently he's still playing at a high level Edited March 11, 2017 by Strethor
biggerdaddynj Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 (edited) Don't think going back to Byrd is a good move based on his recent past (injuries and performance). Anyone know anything about Bradley McDougald a 26 year old FA safety who played for TB? On their initial FA top 50 rankings, PFF had him down as the 31st ranked FA on their top 50--a few spots below Cyprien (Jax) and Swearinger (Az). On their recent top 25 remaining FAs list, he's number 8. https://www.profootballfocus.com/pro-25-best-free-agents-still-available/. Seems like he's been inconsistent but has produced and has upside that might be tapped by someone like McDermott (who took a 5th rounder named Josh Norman and did a decent job coaching him up--might work again). Last year McDougald played on a one year contract for about $2.5 million. Not sure what he's looking for and would rather have used money on a RT but seems like that ship has sailed (and we can shore up the secondary in the draft a lot easier than the o-line but that's a different thread!). EDIT--just found a whole piece on him on "Billswire"--whoops (but they do a much better job than I did!! 😉) http://billswire.usatoday.com/2017/02/10/could-s-bradley-mcdougald-be-a-2017-nfl-free-agent-target-for-the-bills/ Edited March 11, 2017 by biggerdaddynj
