boater
The Pats were running wind sprints right up until the Super Bowl. ..... Did you see the movie Miracle on Ice? Rent it if you haven't. You cannot change the culture of this team unless Dareus is gone.....he is the biggest cancer to having a TEAM. Selfish, unreliable, untruthful, and a stupid cheater. All characteristics that are more harmful to a team than any number of sacks can help. Yes. He is the Mario Williams of 2017. Speaking of culture change. How do we know this McDermott guy isn't eating ranch with his wings? ..... I snorted my Titos & Soda through my nose when I read that. I have a teen daughter who dips her pizza in ranch.. so gross. They can change whatever culture they want, EXCEPT they better not mess with the TAILGATE culture. That, my friends is off limits. Can we at least get rid of the public sex, and the guys setting themselves afire? ...... Everyone thought it was a positive that the players were happy to see Marrone go, well there was a reason they didn't like him. Yep. The players are millenials. Millenials are not fans of hard work. I hope they become Bruce Smith. He was the grand slack master his first years here. Then something snapped in him and he got in shape, and ...gasp... started studying film on his own without being told to. You know the rest of the story. BuffAlone
Micah Hyde will be a fan favorite very quickly, he's a hard worker, good in coverage and tackles well. I've followed him from Iowa, very excited we signed him.I agree. A very good signing. I think folks are going to be shocked at his abilities
Strethor
I remember Doug Marrone did that whole blah blah blah culture change. How'd that work out? I despise the words culture change.. We even heard about how by hiring the anti-micromanager (Rex compared to Marrone) we would see improved play. McDermott is just doing what is expected at the NFL level not a "culture change" - we are just finally normal!

Radar
One thing that never changes is the losing culture at TBD. Question, what would your opinion of Dareus be if he signed with the Patriots? Sort of like when Mario signed with the Dolphins. Talent very important but desire and being motivated counts for a lot as well. Darius is talented but I must admit I wouldn't cry at his departure. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but Dareus has zero strikes left, right? One missed or failed test will have him out for 16 games - with pay. It's virtually impossible for the Bills to get out from under his deal or trade him so that narrative needs to stop, at least for now. This year will tell us all we need to know about Dareus imo. ndirish1978
Read below, and this staff's attempt at culture change appears a lot more genuine and in line with how to succeed based on the article: https://theundefeated.com/features/all-22-an-nfl-head-coachs-first-mistake-is-trying-to-immediately-change-a-teams-culture/ Thanks for this article! 3rdand12
Speaking of culture change. How do we know this McDermott guy isn't eating ranch with his wings? Like Tyrod is. I'm all for culture change. But some things best be left alone. This,is serious chit. And should be grounds for dismissal. These guys need some Blue Cheese pronto. Then witness Tyrod hit those short and intermediate routes. This is truth Considering the poor guy had EJ Manuel and Kyle Orton as his QBs I'd say it worked out pretty well. The team played hard week in and week out. They overachieved based on the talent level, whereas Rex's teams here underachieved. Marrone still doesn't get enough credit for what he did. Everyone thought it was a positive that the players were happy to see Marrone go, well there was a reason they didn't like him. I am forced to agree. Marrone Did begin a culture change. He was new at it at the NFL level, but I felt he made a difference as you described. Ryan let it slide pretty far though. Culture shock will be fine with me ....news says Hunter was to visit the Pats.....think they would sign him after the Cook deal?....would you take him back?......seemed to be developing a rapport with TT......IF and WHEN he threw it... yes I would We have a 'culture change' every 2-3 years. yup. wilcoam
Every time we get a new HC and make some moves in FA and or and release players there's threads on various Bills message boards claiming there's a 'change of culture' - Only looking back there never was and likely isn't one now, or if there was, the end result was the same What there is a change of HC who is specifically a D HC, who is specifically a secondary specialist, so of course the wholesale changes are going to be in the secondary, no more or less that all the front 7 charges Rex made last year, and the O-line changes Marrone made back when Normal NFL stuff, nothing more, nothing less.... jc

CanadianFan
McDermott talked alot about changing the culture after getting hired and we are beginning to see some of that with the initial free agents signings. I usually don't make to much out of press conferences with players because they typically have the same scripted answers. I got done watching the press conferences with Tolbert, Hyde and Poyer and could not have come away more impressed. Each player brought a real excitement and positive energy to them. All seem like real smart guys and team first players. Looks like McDermott brought some grinders into the locker room. Culture change hasn't started yet. Culture change in the locker room starts when the OTAs begin. Big Mc will set the tone, and it BEGINS when he FOLLOW THROUGH on the tone. Consistency. You can't ever tell that change from media sessions. no sir. Culture happens when this group of players gets together. I have no doubt things will change in the locker room. Many of the team leaders already said what they want to change after Wreck Ryan left. I think that's the positive thing here. Now Big Mc has a job on his hand - change Dareus. I just finnished watching them also and really impressed with quality of players he has brought in. Don't forget about DiMarco also. Very impressive press conference. row_33
Another 3 year plan starts this year. I'm fine with the coaching moves and all that, hope to see them improve each month and earn our support where it matters.
jahnyc
I also am fine with coaching change (and culture change), but not too happy with the start of free agency. We only have six picks in the draft as of now, and some huge holes to fill and other positions that need to be upgraded.
racketmaster
Culture change hasn't started yet. Culture change in the locker room starts when the OTAs begin. Big Mc will set the tone, and it BEGINS when he FOLLOW THROUGH on the tone. Consistency. You can't ever tell that change from media sessions. no sir. Culture happens when this group of players gets together. I have no doubt things will change in the locker room. Many of the team leaders already said what they want to change after Wreck Ryan left. I think that's the positive thing here. Now Big Mc has a job on his hand - change Dareus. I disagree as I believe the culture change started at McDermott's introductory press conference. He began lay out his plan and vision at that time and you can bet the players were watching. You are right that when OTAs start that what MC does then will matter more but he is beginning to take the first steps in the process. 1. Anyone else notice that the Bills seem alot more buttoned up. Leaks were everywhere under Ryan and the whole Tyrod deal was kept under wraps. 2. The organizational face and direction. Ryan was full of bluster and liked joking around during media appearances. He often talked down to his opponents. Whaley is not comfortable in front of the microphone. I think Bills are shifting to having MC be face of franchise. He takes a professional, business minded approach but also has a competitive energy about him. Again, players see this and fans see this. These are all small steps in changing the organization and how it is viewed. 3.Player moves and signings. High character players who love football and the team are being resigned and signed. MC is making this an emphasis because this is what he wants. You can't bring in a bunch of players like Manziel, Gordon and Martavius Bryant and expect them to change the culture in a positive way. The culture must be established first (it may take a year or two) before MC may feel the locker room is strong enough to handle such a player. Or he may not ever want the headache and actively sign such a player. As a HC you can't come in an say you want this type of team and player and then go sign something different. By putting as many players who think like himself in the locker room, the change will end up being much easier and faster.
