dave mcbride Posted March 12, 2017 Posted March 12, 2017 (edited) Chad was freaking accurate, he knew exactly where to put the ball... Sadly his arm fell off at the shoulder. There were 2 Penningtons: pre- and post-rotator cuff tear. The post-rotator cuff tear is what most people seem to remember. Before that, he had an average, not terrible, arm. GunnerBill Posted March 12, 2017 Posted March 12, 2017 Even as an avowed Watson fan those numbers do worry me. I still maintain he is the best Quarterback in the draft though. Tape counts more than anything else.

QBs with less powerful arms need elite accuracy to compensate. Brees and Montana certainly have/had that. Watson does not at this point in time. It's actually more of a concern with him. Like any other attribute, one thing doesn't determine the success or failure of a player. Certain attributes don't improve a player's chance of success if they are well above the accepted minimum threshold - velocity is one of those. But in a case where a player lacks in one important area it can prevent his success. That's the concern here.
