Didn't Houston make the playoffs last year?

Oh, I expect them to go after him. But going after and landing are two entirely different things.

I dont think any team would do this without knowing something....

Now they need to draft the right players...

That's always been the problem for them.

Yes. And the Broncos won the SB the year before.

They know something: that Osweiler is crap. He was probably going to be released.

This. It is very intelligent, and I wish the Bills were thinking like this and rebuilding this way as opposed to chasing 8-8

You're right. We should chase 1-15 instead. Christ.

@rapsheet

From what I understand, the #Browns are weighing simply releasing Brock Osweiler after trading for him. NBA style

WTF is going on here?????? Can someone explain???? This FA season so far has been nuts!

Casserly just said you don't spend 16 million for a 2nd Rd pick and he's right

They didn't spend anything. If they cut Osweiler, they still keep the 2nd rounder.

So, they basically paid $16 million to turn a 2017 4th round pick into a 2017 6th and 2018 2nd.

Bizzaro world.

You use that money to bring in good players, not a bum QB and a draft pick down the road

They still have $55M to spend on good players. They aren't winning a SB this year anyways and they can cut Brock next year with zero dead cap.

Browns did well here.

How are people not understanding that this is a good deal for Cleveland? Getting Osweiler doesnt put them against the cap in any way, nor are the committed to him. They are free to do what they want with him, pretty much penalty-free as far as competing goes. They landed a 2nd pick in 2018 and a 6th for a 4th. They keep accumulating picks, and when the time comes, they will have many options dealing with their bountiful cap space. They werent spending to the cap this season, and the plan is not to compete as of yet. This 'costs' them nothing as they need to get to the cap floor

They are doing what the Bills should be doing. Tear it down to the studs, accumulate picks and quantity, look at a 3-5 year plan (currently in year 2), with the goal of being a perennial contender for a decade+
