This leak could have been to gain leverage on the restructuring of TT who said he will not redo his deal. And now all of the sudden he does

Really ok yeah I guess leaking you are talking to another QB wont spark a QB that didn't want o redo his deal all of the sudden redo his deal

I bet you it was part leverage and part plan b. I highly doubt they still pursue hoyer at this point.

He's a backup, so could still be in play. He is not a starting caliber QB. Would be a perfect vet backup though.

He may be the best backup in the league. Would be the perfect safety valve for TT if anything happens.

Just filed:

Person familiar with discussions tells AP that Buffalo #Bills are in talks with pending free agent QB Brian Hoyer.

Ok so now he will back up for us, beats nothing

Makes no sense for him to back up Tyrod with him being good enough to start.

I dunno - I think it's quite possible that Hoyer has no illusions and has settled into Steve DeBerg mode: career backup who can get you to 2-2 over a 4 game stretch and mentor to younger QBs.

The deal may have been finalized today, but no doubt had been agreed to several days ago.

So why were even talking to Hoyer if he only wants to start, and the Bills already knew what they were doing with TT? Maybe they didn't tell Hoyer and he just found out.

Perhaps they're finally investing in the concept of real competition at the most crucial position. As opposed to providing "competition" to EJ through acquiring Kevin Kolb.
