Last year, he wasn't at his best but I liked roughly knowing what you're going to get from Sanborn.

Not always a guarantee to get better if you go younger, as the Cardinals found out.

I can't wrap my head around LS being difficult to play. It is so repetitive. I get the reps and practice to get the routine but I always thought it should be the backup centers responsibility. That way a roster spot doesn't need to be used. Good work if you can get it but I can't believe so many teams use them.

I noticed Sanborn's struggles in 2015 and then again last season. I don't know what keyed me into him but I do wonder if it had a lot to do with Schmidt and Carp being subpar.

Like so many others have expressed, Nickell Robey Coleman was a bit of a surprise to me.

The others? Not-so-much.

The draft should be interesting.

I'm OK with this. Seymour might be able to step up, and this is such a deep draft I'm pretty sure we can upgrade these positions. And I think there is a LS on the roster (Ferguson?).

Robey is a decent slot corner but like others have said his size kills him. The play last year when Gronk abused him with no help over the top really stands out. I think Gronk mossed Robey two years ago for another touchdown as well.

Carpenter on the other hand will not be missed at all.

Shocking ... the 5'2" NRC got abused by a guy that makes bigfoot look small ... The blame for that play belonged with the Ryan twins.

NRC got benched last year. Some relevant stats

He was great in hand to hand combat and one on one coverage and a really good playmaker....but he left us exposed a lot.

McDermott is a Johnson disciple -- get pressure quickly with the front 7 so corners don't have to cover long. He likes taller corners. I loved Robey but this is $1.5M in cap room the Bills can really use.

Carp was great 2 years ago -- automatic. But the last two years have been tough.

These aren't bad decisions in my opinion.

you cant go wrong in roster cuts IMO. no one is untouchable, asides from sammy

WTF would they release Coleman? All that dude did was make plays...strange decision...maybe he doesn't fit what they are looking to do...you could see Carpenter coming from a mile away tho...

It does seem like a strange decision.

Per OTC, he's also the only one who was under contract this coming season. $1.65M cap savings

Sandbourne had this coming for a few years. In fact, he probably was the reason for the decline in special teams.

He had a free ride to stardom, and now is finding out what happens when you put it on cruise control.

I advocated pretty hard for Jimmy 'Snap Back' Landis last year, and everyone said Cinnaborn still had life left in him. Time to eat some crow, unless you feel like this isnt someone you want on the final 53:

I honestly can't figure out why they cut the long-snapper. He can't have been that expensive. He was reliable. He made a few tackles on punt coverage. Now there is one more position to worry about filling. Was he over-paid? Did he ask to be released? I must be missing something.

Fsu guys dwindling like the Williams...

cheaper LS on the PS - Reid Ferguson. Sanborn was replaceable and in decline.

Graybeard, with all due respect, have you been watching our special teams?

Sandbum looks like someone filled his legs with Quikrete. Its like hes playing blindfolded dodgeball with Colton Schmidt on more than half the punts.

This was him throwing out the first pitch at a game a few years back:

i have noticed that last year he didn't make many (any?) tackles on punt coverage. I suppose that is a sign of decline. I guess I'm just surprised they didn't have a competition at training camp. Maybe cutting him early lets him try to latch on with another team.

I didn't know Walsh was available. Be happy to have a good young kinger like him.

Folk though if the cap implications aren't prohibitive. He has been good for a long time.

oh wait he's not available apparently the Seahawks signed him 3 weeks ago. I knew he was cut mid season but failed to see he signed with someone. https://www.google.com/amp/thevikingage.com/2017/02/09/former-vikings-kicker-blair-walsh-signs-seahawks-course/amp/
