GunnerBill Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 Schefter is reporting 3 yrs 45 million w/ 19 GTD. Crazy money and people complain about Tyrod. Focus instead on the guarantee. My guess is that the $15m in year 1 is fully guaranteed (or near enough) so this is a one year deal. The penalty for getting out is minimal. That was the problem with the original Tyrod deal. The out money was way too big because he was guaranteed too much. The new TT deal is much more in line.
BarleyNY Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 Schefter is reporting 3 yrs 45 million w/ 19 GTD. Crazy money and people complain about Tyrod. To be fair, people were complaining about a contract that just got slashed. How many are still complaining?
Big Turk Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 Matt Flynn threw for 6 TDs in one game and parlayed that into big payday ;-) Brock Osweiler played like crap most games in Denver and still got paid big money....until they found out he couldn't actually play...
John from Riverside Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 To be fair, people were complaining about a contract that just got slashed. How many are still complaining? Your right.....those that normally complain about the contract are not complaining now I thought the bills did he right thing here....they have themselves options and allowed room to draft a qb...it will be up to Tyrod to keep him holding the clipboard with his play...if he doesnt then we are out from under it rather easily. Competition is a good thing
Domdab99 Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 Anyone who thinks we've overpaid for Tyrod is not smart.
BuffaloBillsGospel Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 I'm a fan of Glennon, He's got a good arm and threw the ball well for being on a very bad overall team. I think he'll be a solid QB if they surround him with some good talent.
Bronxbomber21 Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 Another way to look at that list is which QB would you rather NOT have than TT?? And if you add guys like: Andy Dalton Derek Carr Dak Prescott Carson Wentz Matthew Stafford Jameis Winston Sam Bradford Which one of those do you NOT choose over TT?? IF you decide that TT is not and likely never will become a Franchise QB than it is a sin to waste $15 million per year on him... That is money that could be spent much more wisely to help the team... Sam Bradford
NickelCity Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 I've been a believer in Glennon since I saw his early NFL performance. Vault me. Now we see how it goes. Would have loved to see him in Buffalo but did not expect that salary.
jeffismagic Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 Field Gulls @FieldGulls Mar 8 More Russell Wilson outplayed Glennon at NC State but Glennon was drafted higher. Wilson then had to win a SB to get paid, Glennon did nothing.
26CornerBlitz Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 @USATODAYsports If Bears decide after one season they’ve seen enough of Mike Glennon, they won’t be stuck in salary-dump situation. https://t.co/88rU0U2t9G
Sammy Watkins' Rib Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 Bill Barnwell broke down that Glennon has a 54% completion percentage on throws between 0 and 10 yards. The NFL average is 73% for such throws. Glennon is going to have to improve that percentage significantly if he is going to succeed.
billstein22 Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 We ... are ... grossly ... overpaying ... for ... Tyrod. Someone gave Osweiler $18 mill a year. Did that mean that we should give Tyrod $20.5 mill? Or did they wildly overpay Osweiler? Clearly the latter. And if Glennon gets a deal for $14 - $15 mill a year, first it's a ton less than Tyrod would make if they picked up his option and second, the fact that somebody might overpay for one guy doesn't make overpaying for another OK. Tyrod is a bridge QB. He shouldn't be paid like a franchise guy, and yes, $40.5 million guaranteed for two years on the roster - his most likely term - is franchise QB money. Glennon is also a bridge QB, though not as good a bridge guy as Tyrod. $14 - $15 mill would make him the most expensive bridge QB in history. And will almost certainly look like a terrible deal in a year or two. Also worth remembering that some teams have an awful lot of money available under the cap to throw around if they want while we have very little and still can't even come close to fielding a roster of 51 NFL-ready players. Why do you care how much we're paying for him? You should be referencing the cap hit, that's all that matters.
