with McDermott preferring a 43 with quick and agile LBs, Ragland seems to be poor fit. But what if he was switched to Defensive line?

He has the size to play DE right now and if that doesn't work for him it wouldn't take much to bulk up to be a 3T inside pass rusher.

I think too soon to know what he can or cannot do in the NFL. Give it some time, but you may be on to his best fit as that hybrid outside LB/DE role that is used today.

He doesn't fit as MLB?

How does Ragland seem a poor fit.....we haven't see the defense ...we haven't seen Ragland play.....he's not a DL either

Reggie is a MLB , run stuffer, Preston Brown is also and still on rookie contract.

Give Reggie enough time to recover from knee injury then decide if Preston needs to be traded before deadline or not.

He actually played some edge rusher with his hand in the dirt at Bama. He should get a chance to see what he can do at MLB and in various packages. If he's not effective at LB in passing packages, then seeing what he can do as a pass rusher in those packages is certainly worth looking into. The team might find some additional value there.

This was a Rex pick 100%. The rest of the NFL passed on him because he was a great college player who does not fit in the NFL. A different mold but the same idea as a Michael Sam or Dat Nguyen or Tim Tebow. Completely wasted Rex ego pick.

Why do people think Ragland is slow and not athletic? He played heavy at Alabama and still could chase down players. He was 259lbs. He lost weight and was looking fast in practice. He got down to the mid 240's. He may lose more weight, who knows.

Nguyen lasted 7 seasons in the NFL, he doesn't belong on your misfit toy list.

There not one person on here who could out run him I bet

And there is not one person on here that could cover Marquise Goodwin.

These boards kill me about how these clowns think there are better than an NFL pro

Ragland is going to be a beast at MLB. This is nonsense. Preston Brown will be his backup, Spikes is gone. The real question is who are our other 2 LB's?

McDermott's defense requires a MLB that cries when he gets hit hard. Ragland won't cry.
