4merper4mer Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 The real hippy Dr. Spock vs. Mr. Spock from Star Trek. One was a real guy with widely accepted bad ideas and one was a TV character also with widely accepted bad ideas. Whose ideas were worse and whose did more damage in your humble opinion?
Deranged Rhino Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 ...Which timeline we talking about here when it comes to Mr. Spock?
meazza Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 Spock ...Which timeline we talking about here when it comes to Mr. Spock? The Spock timeline
Taro T Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 ...Which timeline we talking about here when it comes to Mr. Spock? Better question. Why didn't Mr. Spock get a doctorate? Vulcans live ridiculously long lives & the guy was brilliant. Shouldn't he have gotten the PhD before joining Starfleet?

Shouldn't he have gotten the PhD before joining Starfleet? Because he wasn't 1/37th native and didn't get accepted in any universities
DC Tom Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 Better question. Why didn't Mr. Spock get a doctorate? Vulcans live ridiculously long lives & the guy was brilliant. Shouldn't he have gotten the PhD before joining Starfleet? He rejected the Vulcan Academy for Starfleet Academy, which doesn't offer any graduate programs. And while he was working on a correspondence course while XO of the Enterprise, the course was cancelled after three years.

And while he was working on a correspondence course while XO of the Enterprise, the course was cancelled after three years. Knew he'd bailed on VA. Figured he could've gotten into his mother's alma mater back on Earth to doubly piss off dear old dad prior to hitting up SFA. Bummer about U of Phoenix finally closing down. And how did he not get any honorary degrees either. Has to be speciesism. Friggin' futuristic specieists.

unbillievable Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 That far into the future, they probably hand out participation doctorate degrees.
4merper4mer Posted February 24, 2017 Author Posted February 24, 2017 ...Which timeline we talking about here when it comes to Mr. Spock? Basically could be any of them as his harmful philosophies were pretty consistent but for this thread let's go with the TV show.
4merper4mer Posted February 24, 2017 Author Posted February 24, 2017 Who's the Picard to Dr Spock? Karl Marx or Lenin because he was a commie.
unbillievable Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 Is Dr Spock the guy responsible for the entitlement attitude of Millennials? Why isn't he in prison?
Azalin Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 (edited) Dr Spock was far worse, because his wrote the ridiculous crap that parents used to raise baby boomers - or as Pete Townsend would say, "my generation". Mr Spock actually had a doctoral degree which was visibly evident to literally everyone. The blue shirt. Not only were the most intelligent and highly educated members of the Enterprise crew given the blue shirt designation, it also imparted immortality. How many crew members can anyone name from the original series that died while wearing the blue shirt? Who other than the blue-shirts were more frequently engaged in debate? Any official Spock canon only applies to Nimoy-Spock, and not to that mewling homunculus appearing in the new movies. Edited February 24, 2017 by Azalin

Spock's "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few...or the one"....is a big load of crap and probably known by far more people that know anything the hippy guy wrote.

And notice that when he died, Spock was wearing a red uniform. Blue shirt = immortality.
