njbuff
I don't understand why Facebook and Twitter are so damning to right wing content. Freedom of speech and expression be damned by those two outlets.

With all the "improvements" on Twitter the last 6+ months, I have basically stopped using my account. I looked at it the other day and saw I lost four or five hundred followers, so I cannot be alone (and who wants to follow a (basically) dormant account anyway?) I know all social media is a business, but there is a certain amount of quid pro quo involved... I create content and allow it to be shared, you (the social media) allow it to get through. Google (YouTube) and Pinterest are search engines that target based on past participating by the user (some say spying in the case of browser history). They weed out the best content to share based upon usage and algorithms. If Twitter and Facebook did something similar, there would be no need for shadow-banning, people would be happy with their feeds (no one follows someone or a brand to NOT see what they are sharing), and more ads might be clicked (as businesses, I can definitely see pushing ads). As it stands, #walkaway is a real thing going on with so many people vis-à-vis socials these days. You're not missing much. Twitter is a den of liberal depravity. Wouldn't mind seeing it scourged from existence too.

Meaning if your opinion perceived as hostile by the community, it's ostracized. That's not a judgment on Facebook or Twitter. That's just how societies function. I can just imagine the cess pool Facebook and Twitter are. I am guessing Internet courage at its finest on those two platforms. Well, you can pick and choose. My Twitter account is all rainbows and unicorns, and my Facebook account is only an account so I can participate in groups (none political). My son deleted his old Facebook account from college after his Junior year (because those that belong to a Frat House generally aren't thinking "long-term" while participating in wine, women, and song high jinks), and then set up a fresh one in case an employer ever asked about it. He has XX friends and posts something about the Bills or Sabres once per year. Generally speaking, few people I know under 35 use Facebook regularly, if at all. If they want to share family photos of kids, they use a locked-down IG account - still Facebook-owned, but better controls over who sees what (although nothing is ever completely "safe" on the internet.) But when Tom joined it was proof it jumped the shark.

Facebook, Twitter (I don't have an account, but anything I see posted on Twitter invariably devolves into the usual brainless back & forth), youtube comments, and any comments/reactions posted following a news piece published online (pretty much any source/site) are all the same: a whole lotta talk, and not much thought behind any of it.

These aren't particularly bright people. They're just nutbags copy/pasting trash talking nonsense. They're like "Occupy Wall Street," but they're Occupy Comment Sections, and you can't smell them or watch them throw their feces around.

Koko78
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/trump-supporters-never-waver-185256151.html They can't figure out why Trump's polling numbers are steadily climbing. It's clearly because Trump supporters are dumb dummies who are too dumb to pay attention. Certainly it can't be because he's doing what he said he'd do, and that no one actually cares about the invented 'scandal' narratives that the media keeps trying to irrationally push on people.

I think it's important to note that no one - almost literally, maybe 6000 people or so - pays attention to Rick Newman. "Yahoo Finance Columnist," for God's sake. What's his day job?
