"Everyone Is Shocked": CBS News Hit Hard by Layoffs

 "I’m really sorry," network president Susan Zirinsky said Wednesday on an all-staff Zoom meeting about the cuts. "There is not a person who won’t be missed."

CBS News was hit hard by a round of corporate cost-cutting that saw "a single-digit percentage" of the network's news staffers laid off, according to an estimate given by network president Susan Zirinsky during a Wednesday afternoon all-hands conference.

Based on the size of the news network — which totals more than 500 staffers — employees did the back-of-the-envelope math and estimated that about 50 staffers were cut, though the network has not said specifically how many were affected.

</snip>

The cost-cutting at the news division arrives as part of a broad restructuring after the December closing of the merger between Viacom and CBS. In New York, some 450 staffers have been impacted by cuts companywide at ViacomCBS since January, per a filing with the state's Department of Labor.

...this is absolutely devastating.......it puts the viability of MSM news in serious jeopardy that we rely upon 24/7/365.....

They never learn... every drop of transparency has worked against the collusion narrative engineers. Not for them. Every time.

And it really doesn’t take a former US Attorney to puzzle this out, but:

Grenell seems awfully eager to correct the idiotic statements and outright lies of the press and the Democrats. I like it!

I am literally fascinated by the coverage to the George Floyd riots and how Trump caused them. The people rioting are not Trump voters, the political leaders of the areas rioting are not in agreement with Trump, and Trump has denounced the riots and stated the cop needs to be arrested. Basically Trump has become their god and all that is done is by his will and his commands.

ONLY A RACIALIST IDIOT WOULD THINK TUCKER CARLSON’S SPEECH HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH RACE. OF COURSE, MOST LEFTISTS ARE RACIALIST IDIOTS.

THEY’RE ALSO TRYING VERY HARD TO HIDE THE FACT MORE THAN HALF OF THE RIOTERS ARE WHITE:

Tucker Carlson: Our leaders have sided with the agents of chaos – we’re told crimes of the mob are our fault.

“WE CANNOT ARREST PEOPLE WHEN WE’RE TRYING TO HOLD GROUND BECAUSE OF THE SHEER SIZE, THE DYNAMICS AND THE WANTON VIOLENCE THAT’S COMING OUT THERE.”

“There’s simply more of them than us,” said Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, quoted in “George Floyd Updates: ‘Absolute Chaos’ in Minneapolis as Protests Grow Across U.S.” (NYT).

Gunshots rang out near a different police precinct and flames streamed from businesses over several city blocks — a gas station, a post office, a bank, a restaurant — as residents asked where the police and firefighters had gone.

Gunshots rang out… and flames streamed…. The NYT is writing as if human individuals are not in the picture even as the Governor is speaking specifically about people and calling attention to the us-versus-them situation.

The Times dare not insult the sensibilities of its core readers — and its writers.
