Trump and Russia

Recommended Posts

Let's rephrase that.

Anyone who's not a conspiracy wonk heard anything?

Wouldn't that eliminate most of the MSM and the left's talking points on this issue? Considering they've been pushing a bogus conspiracy theory for eight months that has now been blown out of the water by actual evidence?

The left and MSM know that their Russian narrative is wrong so they took up a new narrative criticizing Trump for his Charlottsville statements, which were nothing but a denouncement of violence on all sides.

I agree. The VIPs report absolutely gutted that narrative. But no one outside of Salon, The Nation, and the NY Post have dared to cover it in the MSM because they're all knee deep in the muck themselves.

Then again, if you go back to the early pages of this thread you'll see that some people had been pointing out the flaw in the foundation of the "hacking" case just by reading the DNI itself. It seems many, many, MANY in the media never bothered to read it. They were happy enough to parrot the confirmations of "unnamed sources" citing "unnamed methods" and lying to the American public about "consensus within the 17 intel agencies". Even less citizens read it, seemingly happy enough to blindly believe the lies coming out of Brennan's and Clapper's mouths because those lies were reinforcing what they wanted to hear: Trump's election was a trick.

Reality is that it wasn't a trick. The real trick was pulled on the American people by the USIC who falsified evidence in order to sink 45's administration two weeks before he was even sworn in, hobbling it to such a degree he's been forced now to kowtow to the neoconservative and neoliberal regime change agenda within the MiC and USIC. I wrote in the OP of the Deep State thread that if we saw troops marching across borders we'd know which side won. Well, last night pretty much put the final nail in the coffin in terms of the Executive Branch offering any resistance to this deep state menace.

But history is written by the winners, not the losers. We won't hear much about the coup that went down in the corporate media. They won. So did the neocons and hawks. The American people lost. The anti-Trumpers don't realize how much they've lost yet, and their own emotional temper tantrum over the election results will continue to blind many of them long after the rest have figured it out. As a people we allowed our emotions to blind us to the game being played right before our eyes. We were duped, once again, by the very same people who duped us all about WMD and launched an ill advised invasion of Iraq which has spiraled to regime change wars raging in several countries. The very same people who unquestionably made the world a less stable and far more dangerous place decided that the will of the American voters was immaterial to their desire to keep pursuing this beetle headed agenda.

We're looking down the barrel of another decade of perma war - which is exactly what Trump ran on ending but has now been forced into supporting.

The racial strife will be used to keep parring back our constitutional freedoms. We gave up our right to privacy to fight terror, now we'll be forced to give up our rights to freedom of speech and assembly to fight "nazis".

And there's no one to blame for this but ourselves. Not Trump. Not Obama. Not Brennan. Not Clapper. It's our job as citizens to guard against situations such as this... and we failed.

But lawmakers want to know more about the dossier, how it was drawn up and who funded it. Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, also wants information on whether Fusion GPS received money from the Russian government for work related to a lobbying campaign against the Magnitsky Act, a human rights and banking sanctions law that the Russian government strongly opposes.

Simpson's lawyer, Josh Levy, said in a statement Tuesday night that his client "told Congress the truth and cleared the record on many matters of interest to congressional investigators." Levy said Simpson "kept the identities of Fusion GPS' clients confidential," noting the company represents a range of clients, including "occasionally, political clients on both the right and the He said the investigation into Simpson "began as a desperate attempt by the Trump campaign and its allies to smear Fusion GPS because of its reported connection to the Trump dossier. ... Fusion GPS is proud of the work it has conducted and stands by it."

Simpson gave 10 hours of testimony and over 40,000 documents to the Senate committee on Tuesday. He and his lawyer want the entire transcript of the hearing to be made public. They aren't running from this and are standing behind the contents of the dossier. When asked by a constituent at his town hall in Iowa yesterday to make the transcript available, Grassley hemmed and hawed, mentioned something about precedent, said the committee would have to vote to make it public. Looking forward to that.

why? It's not changing anyone's mind

Of course it won't change any partisan minds; those minds are intractable and beyond being changed. People have their minds made up regardless of the fact that nothing in the dossier has been confirmed or proven false. Just a ton of innuendo and shouting along with the usual attempts to discredit the source by pointing at their political leanings.

But a couple things happened this week that are interesting, imo, and I'm looking forward to seeing how they play out.

40,000 documents and 10 hours of testimony is a TON of nothing there.

Christopher Steele revealed his sources to the FBI.

And that makes me harken back to Comey's testimony in June when he was asked point blank whether anything in the dossier was true and he said he could only answer that in private testimony. That's interesting to me because it's been reported in the last couple of days that the FBI corroborated names with those identified in certain intercepts.

And it's interesting also to see Grassley, hell bent on exposing the funding sources at Fusion GPS as coming from democrats, learning via testimony in a UK libel suit regarding the dossier, that at least $1m of the funding for the dossier came from a wealthy Republican donor as well. Because he didn't sound too keen on letting that 10 hour testimony become public when asked about it at his town hall yesterday.

It's interesting from many angles, imo.

THE PODESTA GROUP (OWNED BY JOHN PODESTA’S BROTHER) RETROACTIVELY UPDATES FILINGS TO DISCLOSE LOBBYING WORK DONE ON BEHALF OF VLADIMIR PUTIN.

Plus this detail: “Interestingly, Paul Manafort was the subject of white-hot searing by the media, and yet — get this — he advised the very group that Hillary Bundler Tony Podesta, brother of Hillary campaign manager John Podesta, now confesses he himself represented.”
