Its a psyop designed to disparage independent media. It works like this: 1) generate a bunch of flat earth theories/conspiracies and get useful idiots to push them. 2) inevitably some independent/conspiracy leaning sites and message boards will cover the topic - mostly to squash it. 3) This generates more useful idiots to push back harder against "the narrative", and creates more pro and con type articles about FE. (The above started in earnest in 2013) Five years later... 4) any media outlet who covered FE gets those stories bumped to the top of all search engine results, meaning that anytime a normal person decides to look outside the MSM for information, and attempt to vet the independent sources, they'll see a bunch of flat earth articles and (rightfully) determine said outlets aren't real news or serious sources of information - funneling them back into the controlled safe spaces of the MSM. 3 minutes ago, ExiledInIllinois said: Semantics.
