Yeah pretty shortsighted if you ask me. It is not like UB is competing for National Championships, give the kid a scholarship & reap the rewards of having Mack in your corner. Quote

PromoTheRobot Posted February 15, 2017 Author Posted February 15, 2017 It's an institution run by the state government of New York, and you're marveling at incompetent and stupid decisions? This decision isn't from the SUNY hierarchy. It's from the dumbass head coach Lance Leipold. Mack was Jeff Quinn's guy. Leipold was the winningest coach in D3 when UB hired him. I guess he thinks he's still in D3. Quote
unbillievable Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 Why does his brother need a scholarship? Mack not making enough to help his brother out? Quote
bbb Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 What's up with Mack's relationship with UB? I read an article that Tim Graham tweeted in maybe September or so - I never saw it in the paper. Graham kept trying to talk to Mack, and I think even went to camp - and Mack wanted nothing to do with UB anymore...............Then, during his phone conference before the Bills game, he said something like Sammy Watkins stole my city because he wanted to be drafted by the Bills and they Bills took Sammy one spot ahead. bbb Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 that's acting professional The second part. But, it was juxtaposed with the first part. Quote

PromoTheRobot Posted February 16, 2017 Author Posted February 16, 2017 The point is the UB program probably can't afford to burn bridges to their highest profile player in history. Quote
bbb Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 The point is the UB program probably can't afford to burn bridges to their highest profile player in history. But, do you know anything about him kind of severing ties last summer or so anyway? Quote
DriveFor1Outta5 Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 I don't see anything remotely wrong with this if it actually opened up a spot for someone more deserving. There is no reason that any program should "owe" it to a former player to recruit their siblings. I know nothing about Mack's brother. He might be a great football player, but if UB didn't see him as a fit there is nothing wrong with that imo. Apparently people find it a shocker when neopotism actually fails. 1 Quote

Exactly. Shameful. Not saying his brother HAS to help him out... But how much $$$ is Mack making, yet he wants his Bro on a free ride. If anything, there are more deserving players out there that actually need the scholarship! He can't scratch up one game check for his brother's tuition? Not saying he has to play fast and loose with his money either. Why sports is turning me off. Quote
bbb Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 I found the article by Tim Graham, who I know used to talk about seeing Mack, I believe even after he graduated, all the time at Duff's or some other place by the UB campus: http://buffalonews.com/2016/09/03/khalil-mack-creates-separation-on-the-field-he-did-the-same-for-this-story/ Quote

His four-year, $18.6 million rookie contract is fully guaranteed. Oakland gave him an $11.9 million signing bonus." And he can't send his Bro to school for 1% of that? If that over 4 years. ?? Quote

I'm starting to think that Mack's brother isn't good enough to get accepted to the school at all. Edited February 17, 2017 by unbillievable Quote
Saxum Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 Have him create a scholarship fund for UB in his name and I am sure UB will award it to his brother first. As long as he continues it post brother's college career he will not have major issues with press and he will gain good will. Quote
PromoTheRobot Posted February 18, 2017 Author Posted February 18, 2017 I don't think the point is UB won't pick up the tab for his UB education. It's the point UB doesn't want him on their football team. Quote
