Hyphe23 Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 Did you know that there are only 2 relevant starting QBs in the league with lower salary cap numbers than Tyrod Taylor? This excludes guys still on rookie contracts. I also didn't include RG3 as relevant. Not sure why everyone thinks we will save money by getting rid of Tyrod. If we bring in any relevant veteran the cap situation won't be any better
FireChan Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 The stat was big plays........as in COMBINED passing and running..........over the course of 2015-2016. They actually had a TON of big plays in the passing game in 2015. Almost entirely by three players.......Sammy Watkins, Chris Hogan and a few chipped in by Percy Harvin. It's laughable to think that not having any the guys that caught all the long passes back/healthy didn't make a huge difference. Cool beans dude. It's not 2015 anymore.
BuffaloHokie13 Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 Cool beans dude. It's not 2015 anymore. Based on the timestamp it also isn't 2016 anymore.
BADOLBILZ Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 Cool beans dude. It's not 2015 anymore. It was 2016 too.
FireChan Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 (edited) It was 2016 too. We didn't have a ton of big plays passing in 2016. We were 27th. We've already talked about it. We had the #1 rushing big play total 2 years in a row. The passing big play total was good in 2015, and terrible in 2016. Just like TT. Really simple concepts to follow along with here. Maury Ballstein Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 Badol takes over as chief Tyrod excuseologist. Jfh tapped out.

Don't get bent out of shape, junior. (It's funny that you edited that post ) Combined big plays........rushing and passing: 102 in 2015.....first in the NFL 100 in 2016......first in the NFL

BADOLBILZ Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 That guy Shady McCoy you railed against for years is pretty pretty good. McCoy was good in 2016........Watkins and Karlos were good in 2015......somehow the team has remained consistent thru the ups and downs of those 3 big play guys.........must be Mike Gillislee! Say........did you see the story about the Bills possibly cutting Shady to save $6M? Maybe they could bring back yer boys CJ Spiller and SJ13 with the savings? There was a typo. 27th in passing big plays in 2016. No typos in my post: Most combined big plays of any offense in 2015 or 2016.

Kirby Jackson Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 The Bills are (and have been) a big play offense in recent years. This is something that falls in the plus column. I remember last year people were complaining that the Bills scored too quickly or on too many big plays. That didn't make any sense to me. Obviously the defense spends more time on the field but so what if they have to run back out there with a lead that's 7 more points (or 6 when you have Carpenter) then when you came off the field. It's like a basketball team being down 1 with 20 seconds to go and having a wide open layup. The other team will get the last shot now but you have to take the lead. Scoring is the objective. I don't care if it's chunk plays or 19 play drives.

In 2014 they ranked 30th in the NFL in big plays.........so really it's just been since Tyrod Taylor arrived......the past two years are recent so yep. And yes, exactly.......score the TD's. And they have.

Big play ranking since 2011: 12th 2nd 3rd 4th 1st 1st It isn't a magic QB. TT is a slightly better Kaepernick. It's the offense. You can continue to believe that the dude who gets out-thrown by Case Keenum is the key to our success. I remain unconvinced. Edited February 16, 2017 by FireChan

How about this, big pass plays 2014 - 33 Orton 2015 - 32 Taylor 2016 - 23 Taylor And the Bills as a team only had 1482 rush yards and 7 rush TDs with Orton in 2014. FWIW Ortons stat line is very similar to Taylors (either year) and I don't think anybody thought Orton was good or wanted him at QB again. Edited February 16, 2017 by old school

When Kaep was hot he had the Niners at the goal line to tie up the SB..............and lost an awesome NFC Championship battle in Seattle on a tipped pass in the end zone. I'd take that kinda' awful for the next couple years. All that said.......Alex Smith went to KC and has done fine too.
