quote the article so we don't have to read it. it's a masterful way of spinning it whichever way you'd like.

Trump has said little about what improvements he wants, apart from halting the migration of U.S. factories and jobs to Mexico.

Since winning the Nov. 8 election, Trump has singled out and threatened to impose tariffs on U.S. companies that move any production to Mexico.

He has also intends to build a wall along the U.S. southern border to deter illegal immigration and insisted that Mexico will pay for it.

One notable thing about Trump’s inaugural address is that it seemed more explicit about his views on trade than he usually is. Here is the passage:

Every decision on trade, on taxes, on immigration, on foreign affairs, will be made to benefit American workers and American families. We must protect our borders from the ravages of other countries making our products, stealing our companies, and destroying our jobs. Protection will lead to great prosperity and strength.

The only way this could have been more explicit is the addition of an -ism:

Protectionism will lead to great prosperity and strength.

Usually, Trump just talks in terms of cutting better deals; this was a more fundamental statement. It, together with what we’ve seen over the last few months, makes me believe that we will see some sort of trade war–or battles–in the early-going here.

Who needs free trade anyways? The right is becoming the left.

And the Left has become the Right

Traditionally the Right has been those who sought to maintain the established order and the Left those who sought to overturn it.

As the US Federal Government has grown in North America and the EU has grown in Europe, it is the Left who seeks to maintain this order while the Right seeks to overturn it

This is just all show. Tinkering with NAFTA is just another of his smoke and mirrors jobs and he won't change much but he will generate headlines and make outrageous claims. State media will back him up and the farce will become alt reality

Which is Trump's goal - to fundamentally change the Republican Party. So far he's succeeding.

Trump's goal is Trump's aggrandizement, period. Put down the Kool Aid already

You're bind Tiber. He's made the Republicans pivot on a lot of issues. Yes, it's through his force of will. We're seeing a real Alpha male at work here.

What issues has he made any real changes with?

How 'bout looking at the title of your very own thread for starters?

What changes is he actually going to try and make? You have any proof at all its not just smoke and mirrors like everything else he does?

You guys need to understand Trump. He is a negotiator by trade. He is going to ask for more than what he is willing to accept. Understand and take his words with a grain of salt when he is addressing specific deals. Just step back and judge by the results rather than his initial rhetoric.
