r00tabaga Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 Is it weird that a former LB is coaching an NFL offense?
jeffismagic Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 Doesn't Denver zone blocking scheme emphasize very athletic offensive linemen? Bills current players not a great fit for that.
Saxum Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 Interesting him being a linebacker as a player, but his entire coaching career is on the offensive side. He has been successful though. But he started out as an offense player in college. He is very smart with masters degree in engineering.
dollars 2 donuts Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 I hate it!! Who is he?? Post of the day.
GunnerBill Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 Doesn't Denver zone blocking scheme emphasize very athletic offensive linemen? Bills current players not a great fit for that. We will be running the stretch zone with a big emphasis on play action. TD Mike is a almost the perfect back for this scheme.
26CornerBlitz Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 Doesn't Denver zone blocking scheme emphasize very athletic offensive linemen? Bills current players not a great fit for that. Wrong! The entire interior of the OL is very good on the move.
Heitz Posted January 19, 2017 Author Posted January 19, 2017 http://www.denverpost.com/2016/08/27/rick-dennison-helped-to-engineer-broncos-history-future/ Must read article - really like this hire. Obviously the Broncos struggled this year, so no surprise there are fans calling for his head. I mean, the Internet, right? Also this: @KevinMassare Rick Dennison finished top half of the league in offense in 7/9 years, including 5 top 11 finishes.
Jerry Jabber Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 Uh oh. That sounds like the 49ers fans with Greg Roman. That didn't work out well. I just did a search on Rick Dennison on Twitter and the tweets from Broncos fans last fall weren't good. Hopefully that won't be the case in Buffalo, but it doesn't exactly inspire much confidence in his abilities as an OC.
Meark Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 Someone having fun on wikipedia.. Rick Dennison (born June 22, 1958) is an American football coach and former player. He is currently serving as the offensive coordinator of the Buffalo Bills even though he will be fired by the end of the 2017 season. An assistant in the NFL since 1995, he served as offensive coordinatorfor the Denver Broncos (2006–2008, 2015-2016) and Houston Texans (2010–2013), and served as quarterbacks coach for the Baltimore Ravens in 2014. He was the special teams coach for the Super Bowl Champion Broncos in 1997 and 1998. A linebacker who spent his entire NFL playing career in Denver from 1982 to 1990, he appeared in Super Bowls XXI, XXII, and XXIV.

jeffismagic Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 Wrong! The entire interior of the OL is very good on the move. Bills ran a variety of blocking schemes under Roman but Denver needs mobility more than most. I'll have to do some research on this and how many athletes you need to run it well.

BobbyC81 Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 Anonymous source says Leroi was fired with cause. That was great!!
Kelly the Dog Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 I'm always wary of how much credit to give any OC under a HC who runs the whole offensive show like Kubiak does. I like Dennison's experience but he's never really had his own offense. I'm sure he's prepared for it, and has it ready to be installed. But it's still a guy who never ran the show.
Fixxxer Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 3× Super Bowl Champion (XXXII, XXXIII, 50 6× AFC Champion (1986, 1987, 1989, 1997, 1998, [[2015-16 NFL ) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rick_Dennison
jeffismagic Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 Trubisky would be a good QB under this type of system.
Jerry Jabber Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 Twitter hates every OC all the time. I wouldn't put too much stock in it. Hopefully that's just the case.

So then the Twitter ire should have been directed at Kubes instead?
Big C Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 Leaks seemed totally plugged now. But will McDermott know the starting QB in New England next year?
