Peter Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Just a question. What's it going to take for you to admit that hiring Rex was a monumental mistake by Pegula? All the little signs and hints over the last two years are certainly coming into focus, and it all points to Rex completely mailing it in. It's almost as bad as Marrone quitting. The Pegulas outperformed the experts - they hired the most successful Bills HC in the past 17 years. Well done. It is going to be interesting to see whether you guys give McDermott some slack if the Bills suffer the depth of injuries and suspensions as we did these past two years. As for this tidbit, it makes little sense. Rex loved being a HC. Those guys love being around the coaches and players. If you do not like him, fine, whatever. It does not pass the smell test that he did not spend a lot of time at the facility. My understanding is that he loved doing what he was doing (until of course the drip, drip, drip of anti Rex leaks). This leak is kind of like the one about Rex supposedly telling the players that they were out of the playoffs when anyone with ears heard him say otherwise at press conferences. It is funny that someone in the building is still so paranoid about Rex that he is still leaking to the media. We can guess who this guy is. Anyway, I will just incorporate my prior posts here and let you guys carry on.
Big Gun Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 of course he had no need to ask! He saw it with his own eyes for two years. yup
Wayne Arnold Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 I am not a big fan of this thinking. Some people who are early in and late to leave are simply inefficient. Not saying Rex was, but time in a desk chair doesn't mean squat to me. Could he not be reviewing tape on an iPad at his house? I would agree with this if we weren't talking about Rex.
hondo in seattle Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 There's no question about it his fire to coach left him with the Jets. You could see it and feel it. I think he tried to get it back but it didn't come. Being an NFL coach is a grind - heck my 12 year olds travel baseball coach goes through some serious crap and has dedicated ridiculous amounts of time to the team. If the thrill is gone - it's gone away. I suspect you're right on all counts. I'm really expecting Rex to end up in a studio or broadcast booth.
Doc Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 The coach should always be the first to arrive and last to leave.
YoloinOhio Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 The coach should always be the first to arrive and last to leave.Yes. The culture starts at the top. A team takes on the attitude of its head coach.
Fixxxer Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 (edited) I think I said what I said pretty clearly. This is another attempt to trash the guy by someone inside the organization. Probably someone who recently has been pushing the narrative that he was against hiring Rex. As an aside, if the Buffalo media had witnessed Rex not being at work (or his truck or any other vehicle not being in the parking lot), they could have reported this themselves WITHOUT Sal now pushing this story for an anonymous (read Doug Whaley) source. Rex has done that himself Edited January 20, 2017 by Fixxxer
Coach Tuesday Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Nothing like a guy who goes up and down a Bills message board telling everyone he's better than them. You're outstanding. OMG THE IRONY
Joe Miner Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 (edited) Just a question. What's it going to take for you to admit that hiring Rex was a monumental mistake by Pegula? It may be worse than Marrone in my opinion. I think Marrone at least gave it his best all the way through the season. I'm not sure what week Rex said !@#$ it, but it was definitely before he asked to be fired. At least Marrone had the decency to quit after the season instead of during the season. He was the top nominal hire in 2015, who immediately mailed it in. He clearly didn't like the job of the head coach, but loved the trappings of the position. Hanging around OBD with the players is not the same thing as getting his team ready to face tough competition. No idea how you can still defend his actions.
Hapless Bills Fan Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Sal C. just now on WGR 550 said he was talking to someone inside the Bills organization who has been there forever. The contact said Rex Ryan was the latest in/earliest to leave HC he has ever seen. Makes sense. The team didn't seem prepared on some Sundays. Thought it was an interesting comment. That's exactly what came to my mind when I heard about his off-season comments to Lynn. He had already checked out. It would also explain why the team didn't play with fire. When the boss slacks, so do the underlings

He's gone full myopia and he's never coming back.

Coach Tuesday Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Believe what you guys want to believe. Whatever. Yeah you keep saying that - but you can't let it go.
GG Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Believe what you guys want to believe. Whatever. If you care to check history, I was a huge Rex defender, until it became too obvious that he didn't give a damn about the team.

Peter Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Yeah you keep saying that - but you can't let it go. You guys love to sit around in a circle j--k and trash Rex. It is amusing how much it upsets some of you guys that someone would dare have a different opinion. Some people might call that myopia.
YoloinOhio Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Believe what you guys want to believe. Whatever. I think Rex was a good coach in many ways. But he had serious flaws that he could not or would not change, demonstrated consistently across two teams that he led, and these were going to keep him from achieving success in the NFL.
