Tipster19 Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 Van Pelt for OC. We spent a ton of money on Clay and Van Pelt is coming from a WC offense. Being a former QB Bill makes Van Pelt attractive to me. Matter of fact word has it that Jacksonville's TE Julius Thomas is going to be released this offseason. I would love to see the Bills ink him to a contract. Belichick has a great offense and utilizes multiple TEs. Why can't we? I expect that we'll be losing Robert Woods and I don't want to see the Bills use a high draft pick on a WR. I say go TE heavy, grab a veteran like Anquan Bolden for a #2 WR, get rid of Goodwin, keep Hunter (I liked what I've seen of him) and whatever young WR that they like like Powell and still keep a run heavy offense with the RBs that we have (Shady & TD Mike). Boot Bush, dump Tyrod, unless of course Van Pelt & McDermott want to developed him, sign Cutler and grab another promising QB in the draft. Let Cutler be just a cut above of being a game manager, run first, use Sammy for the big plays and work the TEs to move the chains for 1st downs. Also grab another OL (OT) or 2 in the draft. Defensively we need to load up in the draft, primarily the secondary. It's important to try and retain a few of our FA LBs, Z Brown & Lorax in particular but I don't know if that's possible. I hate to say it and I don't want it but sadly if McDermott is going to take full control, and I fully expect him to, it will start with the defense and that might be the end of Hughes. Not because of ability or work ethic but more to do with attitude and self control. I love the guy but he does time after time makes the stupidest penalties and at the worse time. That won't fly withMcDermott and even though I think that both of them are real @$$holes, Slob Ryan & Doug Moron, Hughes has gotten into it with both of them, 2 different coaching regimes. I get the distinct impression that McDermott is a no nonsense kind of guy and he won't put up with that of bs and insubordination. Jerry should fetch us a pretty good value in a trade. I might be wrong about all that, I hope I am but it won't shock me though if I'' somewhat accurate about the McDermott/Hughes relationship. As far as our dopey pot smoking DT Dareus goes it wouldn't bother me a bit if the Bills could get out from under his contract and get something for his stupid fat ass. I love his ability but he can't be trusted and if he slips up again it will be a gigantic mess, business wise says to chalk it up to a lesson that was learned the hard way. If there is any truth to the latest speculations that there is going to be a rebuild and McDermott is going to be allowed to put it all back together brick by brick then this is one big fat brick that needs to be replaced. Even if Kyle doesn't retire then he's very close to being done anyways. The Bills believe it or not need to figure out their DL real soon before it's too late. I think that our best way to be competitive for the present time is to try and find a few more of these aging veterans like Lorax as we get rid of some of our dead wood, implement the veteran roster with young talent through the draft and let McDermott get his groove on by constructing a team the right way for the long haul unlike that idiot Ryan. As much as switching coaches sets us back I really believe that if we would of kept that clown Ryan we would of been set back even further. In light of our state of affairs I would rather take a step back for a year or 2 to get a team built the right way for the long haul. Go Bills!

OhDozeBills Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 You lost me at Cutler. The guy is not a winner or a leader. These are the type of guys we don't need in the locker room. I'd take Tyrod any day over him. Im not saying TT is the long term answer but he gives us a chance to win now while grooming Cardalle or another young QB we get through the draft You lost me at Cutler. Augie Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 Lost me at getting rid of Hughes...... Why lose a double digit sack guy? Coach him up. I skimmed after that.

I'm sure that there will be nothing to fear but it will all depend on how McDermott percieves him. With that being said there will be quite of change under McDermott's watch and I'm sure that there will be some decisions that will have a bunch of us up in arms initially. Better expect some things to happen that you're not going to like. Just saying.....

Marty McFly Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 I was on board. Then you lost me with sign Cutler.
dezertbill Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 (edited) Cutler is a train wreck. I wouldn't touch him if he was available for veterans minimum. I like a protected Romo more. Depending on the QB we may see more of Clay. Because TT didn't hit him doesn't mean another QB won't. Thomas is unknown and who knows how much he'll be asking for. Romo would make Clay a 1000 yard receiver. See Jason Witten Draft a QB in first two rounds and groom him with Jones. Boldin is old. Resign Woods. He won't be expensive and honesty if we had a solid QB I feel he'd be a 1000 yard receiver. Lorax is 33 and he'll be asking for more money than what hes worth being a one year success story at his age. If Z Brown fits the Def and isn't asking for stupid money resign him. McDermott and Frazier are secondary specialists. I believe they'll make whoever back there successful. It's not like we have zero talent. But we'll probably draft a CB in top 3 rounds. Let the DLine coach do his thing and that will figure out Dareus and everything else. Besides QB only other elephant in the room is RT. Need to find one of those. bills in oregon Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 You had me until you were ready to dump Taylor and sign that D bag from Chicago Jay Cutler
ndirish1978 Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 We need to draft a strong safety, at least one cornerback and a linebacker. We can save a lot money by cutting tyrod, not re-signing Gilmore and letting woods walk. I would like to see us sign Klein and a safety. We need to get decent rt and a solid second receiving option be that a tight end or wide receiver. Even then this is a seven win team at best.May as well trade Dareus if we are going Full Rebuild
Tipster19 Posted January 19, 2017 Author Posted January 19, 2017 For all the ones puking on Cutler I'd like to hear your solutions to the QB position. As of now the Bills are going to carry over $2.8 million in salary cap space for next year, the 10th smallest in the whole league. Chopping Tyrod will add another $13 million. So, do you really think that we should or will keep Tyrod now? I hate to break the news but I wouldn't get my hopes up on us getting Romo. So what do we do for a QB? Cutler is only a bridge for a year, possibly 2. Say what you want about Cutler but he's experienced, should be able to be had for a reasonable cost, relatively young (32?), has a cannon for an arm which is valuable in our stadium and is able to air it out to Sammy and others. Julius Thomas already got paid, didn't produce, mostly because he didn't stay healthy. I would expect him to get a incentive laden contract from the next team he plays for. Replace the high priced WRs with competent veterans, they don't have to be stars just reliable because we got Sammy for the flash and big time TEs (Clay/Thomas). O'Leary is coming on and is the blocking TE that we need which he can make some plays in the passing game himself. I forgot to add this link. http://buffalonews.com/2017/01/18/bills-carry-2-8-million-salary-cap-space/
8-8 Forever? Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 ha ha this is funny. once they cut TT loose this thing is a just a rambling train wreck looking for a wall to hit for 3 years. at least we can hope for the #1 overall pick next year , that will be something... they can call Browns and Bills the "mistakes by the lake". gonna be a great 3 years. Where's Paul Snyder when you need him. I hear there's no franchise in San Diego... hey they can call 'em the Clippers.
Beef Jerky Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 (edited) You want Cutler?!? You might as well go full rebuild... You don't grab bad QB, their is no reason for a veteran if he won't win you games. I don't get why people don't realize this. Edited January 19, 2017 by Beef Jerky
Mr. WEO Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 Lost me at AVP for OC.....not mainly because there are two other threads on this topic.
Tipster19 Posted January 19, 2017 Author Posted January 19, 2017 One other thing that I forgot to mention. Believing that McDermott will be making some big changes to the current roster and not being a coach but instead a great teacher I then expect for us to trade down in this year's draft to accumalate more picks/players.
