When will the government start bailing out other businesses hurt in Trumps trade war?

After it pays China back the money it's borrowing to pay the farmers.

Because, I think that Chinese feel that Trump is in a corner now because he discussed releasing the strategic petroleum reserve and is now throwing in farm aid.

That's not negotiating from a position of strength, and the Chinese know it.

I didn't hear about the SPR.  That's troubling...

Why on earth would he even do that?  I mean, aside from being an irrational potato of a human being...but there's no real reason to think it's necessary.

Last week's news.  Got buried by two scoops of ice cream or something else really important.

I also forgot to mention his moronic call for the Fed to stop raising rates, will means they HAVE to raise rates now.

Our presence is honoured here by an expert on Chinese government, maybe a partner at Kissinger and Associates?

Ouch! With regard to the tariffs and the $12 billion farmer bailout:

"And the Koch Brothers-aligned Americans for Prosperity President Tim Phillips poured cold water on the plan shortly after it was announced.

"$12 billion to aid farmers means the US is essentially borrowing from China to offset the costs of tariffs imposed by China," Phillips said. "It doesn't get more Washington than that.""

Don't mean to hijack (or bring tibs out of the woodwork), but I've been getting a lot of questions about this and it's not somerging Ive tracked. I'm being told (by friends and family kind of thing) Trump is going to have the chance to reshape the Fed - something about him likely being able to appoint multiple new people to the board. Anything to that or is it noise?

Considering there are 4 governor vacancies, I'd say the odds are very high :)

He will be in a spot to nominate 6 of 7 governors (he elevated Powell to Chairman).  That doesn't happen too often

Whirlpool cuts profit outlook due to Trump tariffs after previously praising them: report

But the network notes that the Trump administration's tariffs on steel and aluminum caused issues for the company. CNNMoney reports the tariffs raised costs for Whirlpool by $350 million and squeezed its profit margins.

The network added that washing machine prices in June were up about 20 percent from this time in 2017, citing the Labor Department.

That is a very ignorant statement overall.

As far as tariffs go I would think that Trump has a plan that doesn't sink our economy, but improves our trade balance with other countries. I would think that one would be wise to let him play the long game rather than criticize every move as it happens. The aid to farmers is a way to temporarily strengthen his hand with China. Our farmers are the most productive farmers in this world and that fact will determine the outcome of this "trade war". After all, people need to eat and in the long run they can't get their food just anywhere.

Trump, have a plan?

Is there any real evidence Trump has any sort of plan, and not just some cognitive equivalent of epilepsy?

He knows he's holding 4 aces and the other 3 cards haven't been dealt yet. All he needs to do is avoid folding and slow play the other countries. You don't need to have the greatest strategy when you have an AR15 and your opponent has a jack knife.

The gambling analogy is apt, given we're talking about a guy who managed to GO BANKRUPT INVESTING IN CASINO GAMBLING.

If anyone can hold four aces and lose, it's him.  He's already done it.
