Nanker Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 What will get the economy moving again is tax cuts. Tax reform would be great, but that's a near impossibility at this time. A key to getting the tax rates as low as they should be is to abolish Obamanation Care.

Obamacare is not be the best that there is, but TrumpScare is scaring a lot of blue state residents.

Pine Barrens Mafia Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Anything that scares blue-state residents is a good thing.
row_33 Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 People would like the opportunity to purchase the health care they can afford without government interference, as well as a catastrophic emergency safety net for people who honestly cannot afford coverage. When they want to try to do this, wake us thinking people up...
Chef Jim Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 What drives me crazy is all this healthcare talk does very little to address the real problem. What can we do to make health care more affordable? It was called the Affordable Care Act for chrissakes.

Canada has had farmer's unions and other such the like set up new parties through the last 125 years that have gained power. The Dems don't give a darn about the poor, it shows all the time. The GOP doesn't even pretend to care about the poor but is expected to. A Sanders splinter wing off the Dems for 2020 that eats up 33% of the popular vote would be a good start.

But deeper commitment to socialism isn't a solution for the US.
row_33 Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 The solution will be what the voters say it is. Socialism may be in the cards for those under 35 to deem the best system of government. We've tried it in provinces in Canada to see what it really gets you...

row_33 Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 I await your answer on where Socialism delivered what it loftily promised. In Ontario unemployment went up and they maxed out even more "credit cards" in the process.

We've tried it in provinces in Canada to see what it really gets you... Tuned into Rush last week for my 10 minutes a year dose - he was ranting about millennials... Seriously? The young people I know are all driven - are pragmatic - can't wait to work and make money - and at the same time are free of much of the crap older people seem to be hung up on....I look forward to them being in charge... Tell me where you see young people want Socialism - other than memes....
GG Posted June 13, 2017 Author Posted June 13, 2017 It works ok in some countries. But the US is different. One size doesn't fit all. I know. IKEA Tell me where you see young people want Socialism - other than memes.... Occupy Wall Street. Free college. Free healthcare. Subsidized housing. Memish enough?
Pine Barrens Mafia Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 can't wait to work and make money. So that's why they graduate with a record rate of arts and humanities degrees? Yeah, right.
Benjamin Franklin Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 I know. IKEA Occupy Wall Street. Free college. Free healthcare. Subsidized housing. Memish enough? Young people are all commies. They grow up cared for. Once they age, they tend to grow out of it. But it is a system that can be effective in smaller countries with less diversity. Socialism doesn't work in a more diverse country with disparate points of view.

Pressing on for 4 years of a B.A. despite everyone telling you it's going nowhere is only matched in stubborn determination by those who keep smoking a pack or more of cigarettes each day. Those who do well in their studies will be rewarded, the 80% that are goofing along for their B.A. get nothing more than what their family can hand them for a job. Or sales.

My Uber driver yesterday was a laid off sales guy who said all his previous bosses were total idiots. He was a baby boomer. Who plans to retire to Southeast Asia (where he has never been) with his 500K in savings and live like a king. Just a curious anecdote. Edited June 13, 2017 by Benjamin Franklin
