I personally haven't seen anything definitive to call Trump a racist.  I don't think he is and just says a lot of stupid crap.  A lot of people on the far left do though and he has exasperated the hatred and violence that was already in the far left.

We're in complete agreement here.

And he proudly cites his economic accomplishments in regards to blacks and Hispanics. When did he call for a Muslim ban and when did he say that the majority of Mexicans coming across the border were rapists and murderers? I thought you were better than this.

He called for a total and complete block on Muslims entering the United States until our representatives figure out what's going on during his campaign.

This was his quote during the campaign.  I stand corrected in that he didn't mention murderers.

“When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.”

He called for a block on people from certain countries, countries that were on a list proposed by the Obama administration that couldn't verify the identities of the people being sent here by the UN. We all know that he used a little hyperbole when mentioning the Mexicans, but we all know that yes, murderers and rapists have been coming across the southern border. What we weren't aware of at the time is the child sex slavery business. Care to address that?

I'm only discussing the backlash against the sub restaurants that was brought up earlier in the thread.  The owner met with him in January of 2017. Before he became president he called for a complete ban of Muslims coming into the United States.  He also made that rapist quotes about Muslims during the campaign.  What happened after that is irrelevant in what we're discussing.

I guess in their minds that just agreeing to attend a meeting with Trump was showing support for him.  As an owner, you have to anticipate the irrationality and stupidity of some of your customers in every action you take.

You're smarter than this, and you know it.

You're defending them based on what you *think* they're thinking.

They went after nuns, for crying out loud. They single-handedly put Chick-fil-a on the map of great places to eat a quick sandwich. They buried bakers. They chased Sarah whatershername out of a restaurant. Literally followed her out the restaurant, yelling at her.

Do you think this is justifed because...Trump? Are you okay with these companies being put out of business? Employees losing their job because of just another bad streak of "irrationality and stupidity" of my customers?

Is that the way you really see it? Or is there any of this that bugs you?

I'm not defending them as much as explaining how Trump exasperated their boiling lunacy to anybody on the right.  You're correct in pointing out I'm making assumptions in what I think they're thinking, but I believe I'm right.  They think Trump is a racist and literally a fascist which is crazy.  Just look at the rise in membership of the anarchist and violent group Antifa.  The fringe left is more dangerous than the fringe right at the moment given the shooting of Scalise, the recent knife attack against the GOP congressman, and like you mentioned about refusing service to Sanders just because she's associated with the Trump administration.  It's completely unacceptable in a civilized society.

I'm not okay with that sandwich company being put out of business just because the owner met with Trump.  However, I believe the owner should've anticipated that would happen and I think he knows that given his comments that seemed to downplay the impact that meeting had.  I feel sorry for the employees who lost their job if that's the reason they closed down all those restaurants in the DC area.

Putting business owners in a position where they suddenly have to "anticipate that would happen" is the left's goal.

Be afraid to speak up and show up or you will pay the cost dearly. It'd be too bad if something happened to that nice little sandwich shop you got there.

Yeah, it's my fault for getting threatened and harassed on my way to work.  I should have anticipated that when I went to work at DHS.

He didn't have to attend the meeting.
