Wasn't sure whether to post this here or start a new thread. Given the fragile and reactionary nature of the posting base here I thought in thread was best.

Trade deficit grows by 100 billion under Trump:

maybe an adult like Kasich will win in 2020.

Tiberius posted this earlier. Two related ponts: one, global trading patterns are developed over time as firms make decisions on where to produce and source. Given the significant outsourcing of US production to China and Mexico, trying to change those patterns will take several years at best. Two, Given those current production and sourcing patterns, the "propensity to import" out of income is much higher for the US than the rest of the world's propensity to import US goods. As a consequence, even if the US and world incomes grow by the same rate, the US trade deficit will grow. In 2018, The US grew faster than most countries, which caused the deficit to widen even faster. Until we start making massed-produced consumption goods here, that pattern won't change.

An example to help. For every $100 of income growth, the US imports $20; for the rest of the world, they import $15 of US goods for every $100. So even if income is growing at the same rate globally, the US deficit will go up--if global growth goes up by $100, US imports grow by $20 and exports by $15. if the US grows faster than the rest of the world, as happened in 2018, then the trade deficit will grow even wider. This also explains why the only time you see the trade deficit shrink is during a US recession--as income falls, our imports fall faster than our exports.

Trump is a victim of his expansionary Keynesian policies last year....and bringing home production will take time.

Yet another example of how hate and bigotry, scapegoating and arrogance (because bigotry is nothing more than arrogance) are harmful and stupid

  Quote

HOMER, N.Y. — The fears weigh on Mike McMahon: If one of his undocumented workers gets a traffic ticket, it could prompt an immigration audit of his entire farm. If another gets detained by immigration agents at a roadside checkpoint or in a supermarket parking lot, the rest may flee. And if his undocumented work force disappears overnight, there is no one to replace them.

“It keeps me up at night,” said Mr. McMahon, who owns a dairy farm south of Syracuse. “There are people out there who just say, ‘Send them all back and build a wall.’ But they would be facing empty shelves in the grocery store if that were to happen.”

First off what does this have to do with the "Trump Economy" and second there are ways for farmers to hire non-citizens in a legal fashion. I didn't read the article because it's likely BS but I did search if for the word Visa and surprise surprise nothing came up.  Oh and when I was a kid farmers didn't rely on illegals to work the fields.  I wonder what happened??

On top of that, there are ways to hire actual citizens for dairy farm work.

This guy just wants to skirt paying legal wages and taxes. I have no sympathy for him.

What do workers, businesses and farms have to do with the economy? ?

No sympathy for a business owner who is being strangled by government overreach? This is purely the result of bigotry driven policy. Let the businesses man hire who he wants, citizen or no citizen.

This is one big reason why we need to fix our immigration laws, not just "look-away" like the dems want us to do. People like HAHA Gator don't want to fix the problems because then they can't use those problems to fault the right.

So you don't want the evil capitalist business owner paying his 'fair share' of taxes?
