SORRY, BUT ALL THE BEST PEOPLE TOLD ME THIS WAS IMPOSSIBLE: Michael Walsh: Trump is proving America’s power through economic warfare.

With the most recent jobs reports to back him up — the president boasted Friday about 400,000 new manufacturing jobs since he took office — Trump has decided that the benefits outweigh the risks. He has history on his side. Tariffs were once a staple of our domestic and foreign policy, employed judicially by Washington, Lincoln, and Teddy Roosevelt. “The tariff makes manufactures profitable,” wrote TR in his 1902 State of the Union message.

Tariffs and fiscal and monetary policies can have diplomatic uses, too — and today, with the American economy booming, the Trump administration is finally swinging the big stick of tariffs and sanctions as a non-lethal substitute for diplomatic or even military action.

Well, stay tuned.

Obama ran as the most transparent president in history, but I don't remember him (or any president) doing as much policy making in front of cameras as 45. From cameras in cabinet meetings (for 90+ minutes at time) to taking phone calls from the Oval Office on camera with Mexican leaders. For a guy who gets pillared as much as Trump for every misstep or clumsy word, he sure doesn't fear doing business live in front of the world/country.

Hope it's a trend that continues for upcoming administrations...

This isn't a fight the party wants to have with him, whether or not they know it.

The extremists are in charge.................they are incapable of doing otherwise.

If Trump proposed..............they oppose.

When are you going to realize that your kiddie games and lies don't work here? The GOP pledged to oppose policies that Obama proposed during his campaign. His healthcare initiative and pledge to "fundamentally change America" were two of them. We did go along with his pledge to stop the rising of the seas, although we didn't really agree with his idea of handcuffing the U.S. economy to do it. -)

What does that have to do with plastic straws?

Steel straws would rust and be too heavy for little kids juice boxes for heaven’s sake.
