The most senior make $150k+ (which isn't much for DC). The most junior...the minimum seems to be $42k - you won't go hungry, but you won't be saving much, either. There's been a freeze on raises for federal workers for a while, too. They haven't received a raise since 2012, I think. For the most part, junior political staffers in DC are not well compensated.
