Doesnt matter Lber coach to DC promotion. Has to let him go.

All assistants are assistants, so that doesn't make a difference. The reason most assistants have freedom to move on is due to the length of contracts offered to assistants. Lower-level assistants often have one year deals.

I really don't know, but I was under the impression Asst to Coordinator was free to go. Maybe that's just the decent thing to allow?

Yep. Just the decent thing. People do get blocked though. I think the Packers blocked McAdoo for a year before letting him go.

Isn't that what McDermott does? Rush 4, play a lot of zone and throw in the occasional blitz?

I believe so. I know he is a 4-3 like frazier, not too sure of his tendencies with blitzing or playing zone

Hope the defense is more the Jim Johnson And Carolina mold and not the Tampa 2 mold.

Any reason to think that it wouldn't be?

Frazier being a Tampa 2 guy in Minny

But the head coach who was just hired because of his non-Tampa 2 defense would just let him do what he wants?

Frazier broke into the league as a DB coach in Philly, under Jim Johnson, right when McDermott was breaking in himself as a quality control coach. I'd bet Frazier is just as familiar with the Johnson based concepts that McDermott ran as his own Tampa 2 style.

Maybe there are HC that do not install a system and call plays instead let their coordinators do it
