Major Mud Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 What 3rd grader came up with that logo? Looks like the Dodgers and the Lightning merged.
Mr. WEO Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 It's about TV and one of the largest markets in the country...Tickets sales won't mean much Contracts are signed til 2022, no? If there are 5 years of bad attendance/ratings, how does that help?
KD in CA Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 Makes me smile knowing the owner of my team wasn't a jackass like that. He threatened to move to RI if the state of Massachusetts did not improve the Infrastructure around the Razor but he paid for the stadium 100% on his own. Sad that is rare amongs all these BILLIONAIRES. What a joke. Kraft only paid for it himself because MA told him to !@#$ off knowing he'd never abandon the Boston TV market for Hartford. The infrastructure improvements was the compromise after he capitulated. Maybe like 90% of Pats fans you didn't know NE had a football team prior to 2001. @latimesFarmer The Chargers have announced their relocation on Twitter but have yet to contact the Rams. Yes I'm sure the Rams are totally blindsided by this news.
CountDorkula Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 Contracts are signed til 2022, no? If there are 5 years of bad attendance/ratings, how does that help? Bingo, Out of market games, continually got higher TV ratings than the "Hometown" team. StubHub Center is a tiny place. Cant believe the NFL would allow this.
Talley56 Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 Looks like we're playing another game in LA next year.
YoloinOhio Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 Hopefully they screw around with their top pick's contract again so he misses games. Par for the course.
dpberr Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 (edited) Trying to make Los Angeles and California football happen will be another nail in the NFL coffin. It was always unstable even when the demographics favored it decades ago. The Rams and the Raiders didn't move around as they did because they simply had too many fans and were making too much money. The league should be looking at consolidation. Edited January 12, 2017 by dpberr
YoloinOhio Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 It doesn't seem like it's a real NFL team with that logo and stadium. It looks like it's part of that new "Spring League"
sodbuster Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 Bingo, Out of market games, continually got higher TV ratings than the "Hometown" team. StubHub Center is a tiny place. Cant believe the NFL would allow this. it's tiny, but it sure is a beautiful place. Three teams could have moved to LA, and the one that made the most sense is the one left out in the cold.

Three teams could have moved to LA, and the one that made the most sense is the one left out in the cold. I really hope this fails miserably for the NFL. I hope that, that stadium is half empty for games.
Playoff Bound Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 @TalesfromtheAFL 1960 #LAChargers game action. Note the empty stands. Will it be different this time? @SDUTKrasovic @sdutCanepa @clarkjudgeTOF #chargers I miss the ref's not wearing the short knickers. Those were the good old days when you could watch the Chargers play in Balboa Stadium for $1 with a Huddle Club card. Oh well.
PromoTheRobot Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 Chargers are DOA. L.A. is a Raider town. If the Chargers happen to start winning immediately they will get some people to care for a time. Celebrities will show up to be seen, etc. but it won't last. The only team in L.A. immune from the apathy caused by losing is the Lakers. And outside of the Rams there are two NBA, MLB, NHL and soon to be MLS teams within a thirty mile radius as well as beaches and hiking trails and other entertainment. Good luck Spanos. What if they built a stadium in Anaheim? Isn't there an LA vs OC dichotomy?
26CornerBlitz Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 @Chargers A letter from Dean Spanos @MikeGarafolo Roger Goodell statement on Chargers' leaving for LA
re enlightener Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 I didn't say it was a good chance! Then again, if the Raiders leave the Bills might be on TV a little more often here. jeez, its not the 1980s anymore, heard of directv? the internet? sports bars? who cares about the tv aspect anymore.
YoloinOhio Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 This was in response to the new Chargers logo - @TBLightning *checks mentions* *squints* *clears throat* for the record, us & the @dodgers are just friends

DC Tom Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 They plan a rebrand, will they keep the Chargers name? What about the colors? I will miss those sweet powder blues! This is the logo they just released.image.jpeg It looks like SS runes. What's their team motto now? "Practice makes you free?"
Kelly the Dog Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 The Dodgers are even more immune than the Lakers. Last World Series win was 1988 and they continue to draw 3 to 4 million a year. Yep. Plus the Dodgers have great fans. The Lakers have a Cheesecake factory portion of crappy fans.
26CornerBlitz Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 Marketing! @ArashMarkazi Los Angeles now has two NFL teams and currently no NFL head coaches.
CountDorkula Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 (edited) San Diego was already last in the league with avg Attendance of 57K I can't see them drawing more than 15,000 per the next two years. its going to be wonderful. Edited January 12, 2017 by CountDorkula
